View Full Version : Qeynos betrayal broken for others?

So I've trundled through for first bits and now I'm supposed to evesdrop on the mages, who, inconveniently only come out at night. I've waited twice, taking 45mins or whatever for the dark to come. Twice I've sat in the 'hidden location' with my voice device and nothing. I've targeted them. I've moved to another location and......nothing. No update, just another wasted 45mins.Anyone else had this problem?

This may be a dumb question, but are you right clicking the device and selecting use?

There's no use option that I can see anywhere, regardless of where I stand. From the guides I've seen, you have to examine it.

If you're in the right spot, examine the thing in your inventory, and you will get an option to start listening. If you are too close, it will warn you of permanent ear damage, and nothing will happen (no risk of real damage, it just won't work).

You must have the right NPC targeted before you examine the thing in your inventory. If they are not targeted...or not there because it's day time...it will go through the motions of listening, but nothing will happen.

I had a devil of a time with this part of the quest as well.

It took me a while to figure it out. You have to be in exactly the right spot right behind a tree near the wall. If you're off by even a little bit it's rude to you.

Frankly, I wanted out of Qeynos so bad by the time they allowed you to betray back that I was willing to dig my own hole at their feet and cover it with leaves if it would have finished the quest...

The other day, I was running my Conjy thru SQ to QH, & as I was passing the big tree near the QH gate -- I was well out into the street, not anywhere even near the grassy area -- I suddenly got the message that I was in the right spot for eavesdropping on the Mages. I would swear it wasn't exactly "night time" either; more like twilight, at best.

Unfortunately, I didn't have the spying thingie on me at the time, so I couldn't try it & see if it worked, & since then I've lost interest in that character becoming a Necro anyway.
