View Full Version : Altaholics- any race you haven't rolled?

Like the thread of Liral but now with races.I never ever tried a halfling, dwarf, high elf and half elves. I find myself playing animal classes a lot and gnomes don't know I just like the little guys. Also betraying is also something I didn't do a lot cause I find myself on the evil side more then the good side. Maybe I'll try a froglok templar to betray to inquisitor or a halfling paladin to a shadowknight

Ever since fae/arasai I just can't make anything else. The gliding/flying/and runspeed bonuses are just so awesome...not to mention they are the most customizable races...I haven't tried:DwarfHalflingDwarfGnomeWood ElfSarnakOgreTroll

I mostly play *-elf classes, preferring Dark Elves and Half Elves.Never tried (and will probably not):Dwarf,Ratonga,Halfling,Frog,Kerra,Tried gnome, but the toon didn't make past 5th level - so guess can add to this list as well <img src="/smilies/69934afc394145350659cd7add244ca9.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

<p>I've never rolled a Fae, Arasai, Wood Elf, Troll, Iksar, Froglok or Human in EQ2. </p><p>My favorites races to play are Dwarves and Dark Elves.</p>

<p>never had a Troll, Ogre or Halfling, had a Sarnak in rok beta, but not on live, so dunno if you want to count it or not.</p>

<p>Never Ever Rolled: </p><ul><li>Human (females look stoned, IMO)</li><li>Ogre (Offer a few more hair options and I'd roll a female)</li><li>Troll.......... *yech*</li><li>Half-Elf (Just don't "get" the whole elf + piercing thing.)</li><li>Male Gnomes - The poor dears need to be fed. Or at least for the love of cog grease give us a weight slider! </li></ul><p>Quickly Killed:</p><ul><li>Froglok - Hopping drives me nuts and the armor just doesn't fit quite right, IIRC.</li></ul><p>Faves:</p><ul><li>Arasai - No Kelethin travel Hassle, all the perks of the winged ones, and all the coolness that is evil fairy bug!</li><li>Ratonga - The most adorable thing <b>Evar</b>!</li><li>Dark Elf - Excluding the male hairstyles (Elf or no, I can't see a male <u>anything</u> wearing half those styles.) the dark elf models are pretty cool.</li><li>Female Gnomes make the cutest little mages. </li></ul>

05-30-2008, 11:54 AM
<p>I have a Human, a Gnome, a Dark Elf, & a Wood Elf lowbie.</p><p>I've tried, at one time, almost all of the other races -- but none of the "ugly" ones ever last long. I think the highest level I've gotten any of them was a Froglok Dirge, which I managed to get to 20th.</p><p>I can't, however, remember ever once playing either a Troll or an Iksar. They're both just too hideously butt-ugly for me, & besides, I just don't do evil at all; even my Neriak-living Dark Elf is more "neutral" than "evil."</p>

In this game, not only do they look like they're starving, they also look like they have permanent attitude problems. Have 14 toons and played everything but Troll (too ugly),  Iskar (somehow too lizardly) and Froglok (no hopping around for me) , Dwarf (Just can't see a beard on female) and Halfling (might try this next time if I delete a toon or another slot miraculously opens up).  Still have to play a guarder, templer, brigand, assassin and ranger lol.   So possibilities abound.Oops forgot the Arasai, the dance is just tooo emo lol

<p>Can't do....</p><p>Troll (Sorry, if I could find a bra for the poor things),</p><p>Human (See Troll note)</p><p>1/2lings (too perma-happy looking for me)</p><p>Kerran (got kinda freaked out watching my tail twist all over the place while in 3-person scrolled-out)</p><p>Frogloks & Erudians (uh, freaky...AND bald).</p>

<p>If it has wings i have not rolled one up other than that i have tried every race just needed to try them to find out which one i liked .</p><p>For some reason the whole wing thing did not work for me  <img src="/eq2/images/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY<img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />" width="15" height="15" /></p>

The poor human females look as though either their bras are too small or they ran into a wall at some point. Someone needs to tell them where the Barbarian ladies buy their bras.</p>

Oh, threads like these are fun! Gonna section it,  like Mezzmyrelda did.Never rolled (not counting "throwaway toons" ):<ul><li>Dark elf: The original version is way too short for my taste and has yellow-ish eyeballs...? Maybe that's just my video card or something. I know I could just use SOGA, but a lot of people will still see my toon as a blue dwarf with yellow eyeballs... so, no thanks. </li><li>Wood elf: Original version is too short. And the male looks like Michael Jackson. As the dark elves, they look good in SOGA, but it's annoying to have zero control of how your character appears to others.</li><li>Human: Would love to play one, but non-SOGA version looks... well, weird. </li><li>Erudite: Bald. Looks like some kind of alien. Not my cup of tea. </li><li>Gnome: These are kinda cool, but not my thing.</li><li>Halfling: I love the cheery halflings, but never rolled one. </li><li>Kerra: I'm not a cat person. <img src="/eq2/images/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY<img mce_tsrc=" />" /></li><li>Ogre: Not my thing.</li><li>Barbarian: Cool race, but not my thing.</li><li>Sarnak: See above.</li><li>Iksar: See above.</li><li>Dwarf: See above.</li><li>Ratonga: Would have been my favorite if there were no frogloks. I love small animal races. :p</li></ul>Rolled, but deleted later:<ul><li>Half elf: This race would have been soooo much more fun if there were better options to customize them. The human/woodelf thing is so old and boring, imagine how much fun it would be if we could make them look like dark elf/human, or high elf/human... or maybe even dark elf/high elf. :p </li><li>Troll: I tried. I failed. Then I deleted it. </li></ul>Favorites: <ul><li>Froglok: I love the hopping! And maybe I'm weird, but I think the female froggies are kinda cute. The voice is horrible, but I just switched to naive female. Problem solved.</li><li>High elf: This is exactly how I imagine an elf. Tall, elegant and pretty. Looks decent even as non-SOGA. </li><li>Arasai/Fae: Aren't they just adorable? I like the little bugs. <img src="/eq2/images/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY<img mce_tsrc=" />" /> </li></ul>

Never rolled: Froglok, Halfling, High Elf, Barbarian, Ogre, Ratonga, Troll, and the Sarnak I made I probably won't be continuing.

I've have anything that's fairy lore based. So, one of each elf and both flutterers. My last slot is taken up by a silver dragon(Sarnak). I also have a Kerran on Test.I've rolled before but never kept...Gnome - Can't get past the nose(SOGA) and available hairstyles.Male Arasai - It was made as a throw away to begin with as I was farming shrooms for my house and wanted to try the male customizations.Ratonga - Yes, they are immensely cute and I even own rats as pets, but for some reason, I just couldn't play one. Dunno what it was. /shrugIksar - Not my thing no matter how much my best friend wanted me to make one. lol Some cool color combos though I'll admit, I just could never play one.Human - Couldn't bring myself to accept the poorly supported breasts nor the bags under their eyes or funky 'old' skin texture on the back of their necks.Dwarf - I think I made a female one before, but if I did she lasted so little time I can't really remember. lolI've never rolled...Troll - ickOgre - no thanksFroglok - cute, but not my thingErudite - they're just wrong!Barbarian - I'd like to be able to look down and see my feet past my rack thanks. Plus, you can never really make a pretty one in the face and I've tried when I've had a char slot open.I plan to make as char slots permit....Halfling - Finally decided I did want one of these although, the overtly exaggerated hourglass figure will take some getting use to.

I have 2 accounts which are all evil on one and good on the other.  I only have half the classes but not really duplicate classes like a warden and fury.  I have all the crafters and that was the main intention and I still level them a bit as well although crafting is the higher sphere on most my toon including my main.

06-01-2008, 12:15 AM
<p>I agree about Fae and racials.  Great starting zone too.  But....  halflings are awful cute.  I started a halfling illusionist, for no reason except she's cute.  Halfling racials seem non-existant although I'm not sure that matters for illusionist.  But she sure can die falling off a tree.  Cute as they are, in future I will not do halfling.</p><p>I knew from the past that erudites were the highest intel mages, so, much as I dislike them, I started erudite warlock.  OMG they now have fast cast AND have safe fall. So without question, erudite is best caster.</p><p>I know some conjurers prefer half-elf for the agro control.  Thats moot later on but important starting out.</p><p>I dont know melee at all.   But if its like caster, then there are some best races for every class.</p>

Well as far as classes go, I refuse to play scout classes.  Mainly because I'm just too [I cannot control my vocabulary] lazy to have to do all that back stabbing BS, lol.  Otherwise I have played every other class in the game, and like them all for different reasons.  Necro being my Favorite, next to my various healer/warder classes I play. For a Race, I gotta go with a few favorites:<ul><li>Dark Elf, as they just look awesome and love the float they now have.</li><li>Trolls, as they are just too darn funny, and feel sorry for them being so stupid, lol.</li><li>Ratonga, I love the way they squeak, especially the females.  Make one jump and you'll see what I mean, too cute.</li><li>Iksar, man they look awesome, and love the militaristic like stigma that goes with them.  Besides I love to call people soft skins whenever I get the chance, hehe.</li><li>All elves for that matter, I have at least one of each as alts, like them all, and they look great.</li></ul>For the Race's I don't like:<ul><li>Human, it's like [I cannot control my vocabulary] I play one in real life, why would I play one in a game, when I have other options.</li><li>Ogre, man too uggie for me, yuck.  They don't seem to look like what I picture an ogre looking like anyways.</li><li>Gnomes, nothing against them, I just can't seem to get into playing one.</li><li>Halflings, never had one, and not interested.  Just can't see myself being a proud Halfling anything, lol.</li><li>Fae of either sort.  Just can't imagine wanting to be a fairy.  Nuff said, lol.</li><li>And for my worst, would have to be a Kerra, got to be the worst looking character in the game IMHO.</li></ul>The remainder of the Races I don't have a problem with, I'd play and some I do.  They just aren't on my favorites list, and I don't dislike them enuf to make my will not play list.

I have never tried any of the Queynos only races - Freeport all the way (I know the layout and am used to it now - Queynos confuses me! lol)  I do have a fae but betrayed her, Sarnak and arasai do not appeal.  The arasai cos the wings on my fae annoy me - they get in the way of your viewpoint.Out of the freeport races I tend to favour half-elves, dark-elves and ratonga or gnomes.  I do have 1 human. Not fond of Kerra and Iksar and ogres and trolls are ugly and I just don't like the look of eruditesClasses I have a real mixture  - obviously all the evil ones due to being FP based. My main is an assassin.  I also have a necro and a fury that are my main 2 alts I am leveling up.  a warden, a bruiser (who I love playing but never get the time!), a wizard... and I forget what classes the rest of my alts are (2 accounts worth!) because they are all crafters and I don't adventure with them.AS a crafter I have pretty much the whole lot now though

06-01-2008, 10:17 AM
Although I've played all the others, my experiences with elves in Warcraft scarred me for life, and I'll never have any type of elf.

06-01-2008, 01:37 PM
I'm an RL female just fyi. At launch Dark Elf was my preferred and my main SK & current raid main (well if I decide I ever want to raid again after burnout) inquisitor are both DE girls, coincidently the Inq is the daughter of the SK (cause I'm an RP nerd) and they are even on diff accounts so they can duo. I think I would have chosen fae if they existed at launch but eh maybe not. I fell in love with a dirge fae in eof beta but never got around to making one, also heard an accidental slip about an evil fae race and I prefer evil. I don't really have much desire for more alts with 3 at 80, 1 at 72 and the next that I plan to someday level at 25. My original alts were all to be diff races & classes with fitting stories & reasons, now I really only see myself making DE & Arsai/fae.I use soga for everyone but dark, half elf & wood elf females, coincidently the 3 races of my favorite characters I created very carefully near launch when there was no soga. I hate de soga girls (could the hairstyles be any more boring, facial too very little to customize) but the boys look a million times better in soga.I won't do:froglok - icktroll - not into playing monstersogre - same as trollrat (I have a boy rat but he's a buffslave pet rat to my sk)halfling - not into playing little kidsgnome - see halflingdwarf - goes with the I like to play humanoids I consider sexy and attractive and dwarf girls have beards <img src="/eq2/images/smilies/69934afc394145350659cd7add244ca9.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY<img mce_tsrc=" />" />sarnak - played one in beta and it was awkward and just not into tall hunched over monstery raceshuman - I'm one in RL, I don't want to be one in my fantasy escape from RL game!barbarian - close to humans just bigger, I like slimmer petite racesiksar - I do have one but it's a mule alt now at 27erudite - another I have a baby mule to never grow up, they have cool alien customizations at char select but in game look blahWhat I will do:dark elf - my favoritearsai - I will make one if I ever decide what class I want to be, they are cutefae - as a maybe, because I think the arsai have way cooler customizable features & wings and I also prefer evilhigh elf - I had a plan for a high elf illus one day, but I think I really only want dark elf & arsai/fae now so prob won't ever make a high elfwood elf - the girls are cute, the boys are hot, I have one but if I had not made her way back near launch she would prob have been a faehalf elf - made one for something different, she turned out to be one of my mains, I like the piercings, she's an ultra vixenkerra - one baby meant for TSing, she is an immortalization of my RL cat, and I thought the voice of kerra's would make a good bubbly cute bard, probly would not make one otherwise
