Does anyone have any info for fighting this named mob (86 heroic)? It's found in Chardok. Unless it's bugged or there is a trick to beating him then it's insanely, ridiculously hard. We tried fighting him twice, both times he hit us with an aoe that did 11k damage to everyone (focus dmg I think). Needless to say it was an auto wipe. We think the aoe was triggered when he got below a certain hit point level, but that's just a guess.

If having an 11k aoe damage attack is just SOP for Nortalz, then that's just wrong lol That needs to be looked at. The really annoying thing (besides it being impossible to beat) is that it's very deep in Chardok, so you have a really long ways to run back to get to where you were. Not a game breaker, just annoying.

Yea the aoe is pretty devastating. Most pickup groups I'm in that fight him don't really take me seriously when I tell them he has a brutal aoe There's a couple things you can do. Have everyone stand at max casting range. If you have a shaman keep group wards up. If you have a chanty try keeping him stifled/stunned. If you have a guardian he can sentry watch and save 1 person from death. If you have a druid with tortois shell or a bard with blade dance you can use aoe blockers. Other classes in your group might be able to avoid the aoe for themselves. Use save vs death abilities. There's a lot of different things you can do.

But I was really hoping that there was some magic word we could use lol No mob, even a boss mob let alone a "common" named mob, should be able to do an 11k damage aoe.

Have you tried resist gear?

If your talking the named mob by the library, Ya this one snuck up and bit me in the seat meat too. I believe his AOE Cannot be resisted. and yes its not a fluke I cant remember but I think it was at 25%. Havent bothered even trying him after the first couple of times. not worth the trouble. Besides I hate contested dungeons.

Killed him last night on the second attempt. I guess I got lucky on my AoE block that time. Hit us for 11K on the first attempt, luckily the Monk just survived and feigned death.[Removed for Content] thing only dropped wood.

Rijacki wrote:
Have you tried resist gear?

I did forget that, as Arkinon and Yimway pointed out, his AOE cannot be resisted. That's the first thing our tank noticed. While we didn't have specific resist gear on, our tank had very decent resists across the board, it did him no good. In any event, I don't even have any gear with focus resists lol

Norrsken - as above, I should have said an 11k (or more as Yimway points out) AOE that can't be resisted. Still, even an 11k+ damage AOE that can be resisted seems inordinatley high considering this isn't a boss mob and that the mob can cast it more then once.
