I've recently made a halfling and it's got me wondering ...What color is jumjum? Is it pinkish? purplish? blue?It has some bearing on my character development, so hopefully someone knows the answer to this.

The icon in game looks sorta like a little raddish so I'm guessing red to dark pink.

It was a magenta color in EQlive.

From all the stories involving Jum Jum the closest real world equivellent would be rhubarb. And no, it isn't exactly rhubarb either.

However, it should share some of the physical properties of rhubarb. Namely that it starts off green like the rest of the plant and as it ripens the color darkens. Like rhubarb Jum Jum is noted for taking on a reddish hue.

So to answer your question, it should go from light green to a light pink and darken to a deep almost black red if left alone for too long. Most likely it is harvested long before it reaches a dark red. According to how ripe the Jum Jum is allowed to become it would have a slightly different intensity of flavor.

It is also possible that jum jum comes in different varieties which could have different colorations. I seem to remember blue being mentioned at least once as a color for Jum Jum.

Much as I love rhubarb, the icon definitely looks more like a radish. However, there are many icons that don't remotely resemble the actual item.Either way, jumjum does give the impression of being a dark pink or light red.

I would have to agree with the rhubarb comparison. Both are typically-reddish vegetables that are unique among similar produce in that they are used primarily for desserts. Of course, you can't create honey from rhubarb, but nobody said they had to be identical.

Reminded me, both here and in EQ1, of a radish.

It is used in all manor of pastries and pies. You make jam from it. You can get enough juice from squeezing jum-jum to make all sorts of beverages from it. It enhances the flavor of many dishes including meats. You can make salad from it (especially popular with nuts). If I remember correctly you can even smoke the stuff like tobbacco.

All in all, the halflings treat jum-jum like Washington Carver treated the peanut plant. All parts seem to be used in all manner of different recipes. If there was ever a jum-jum blight you'd see the halflings in an absolute panic.
