The weapon seems GOOD, but not "amazingly f'n awesome-to-the-point-of-broken" like EQ1 epics were. A disappointment really. Even if this is the non-raid version, it's STILL a disappointment. Not AMAZINGLY better than other weapons out there. Epics should be something class-defining that last BEYOND expansions by a significant amount. This doesn't feel like that (or even close really).

Well, this is quite a bit better than anything I have now, or have had in the past.

I wonder if it has a cool graphic.....does your friend have a screen shot?

increases pet spell crit chance? since I prefer scout pet this effect is an EPIC failure, i can't even describe how disappointed I am in this effect, kudos to the crew who designed it's look, and the crew that designed the actual quest.. but you know, it's not like i have been waiting for this item for almost 3 years now, oh wait I have been...

Everyone told me i was crazy when i posted before about i hope soe doesn't F this up. Seems i was right to worry. This isn't very "class defining" and while some of you may be easilly amused by this crap fabled, i am NOT impressed. And if thats the FABLED version, i wonder how badly the heroic one sucks...I can only hope that the rumors about being able to upgrade to mythical are true...

Modega have been talking and we've decided that it would be a pretty decent weapon IF it had a proc for each different pet. Or a clicky for summoning a corpse...from anywhere in the zone.

hate to be so negative about it, and I know dev's read these forums for feedback on their work. but yea, I dont want to feel limited by my epic (as far as pet specific spec's) I hope they read it proactively and not just another whine post

I'll start off by saying i might have been a BIT harsh at first. I was confused mostly by the fact that i was expecting group version to be legendary. Second off, while the stats are pretty nice for a heroic quest reward, the proc i feel is a bit lacking. Not modifiable except explicitly? I take that to mean that spell damage doesn't increase its proc damage and that things like Blessings and Propogation wont affect its chance to proc. Increases damage spell crit chance of pet. Thats all well and good. IF you only use your mage pet. But I defy everyone who reads to tell me that you ONLY EVER use your mage pet. I find that i use tank pet just as much as my mage pet. My friend has the master1 scout pet and uses that and his tank pet all the time. As necromancers our two biggest claims to fame are that we do hot dps without pulling agro and we can solo ^^^ mobs with ease. I see this weapon improving one claim to fame, but not the other. Wheres the incentive for solo'ing necros? And with the new AA mirrors, its so much easier to raid AND solo than it was before. So i ask you, where the part of the proc for the other two pets?

Personally I think this epic is about right where it should be. Hear me out. In eq1 there was no "heroic" version of the epic. You camped very hard mobs and it took quite a while and then you got your one epic. The item was fantastic and looked great. In eq2 they have a heroic version of the weapon (Thank you SOE for doing this - I like the idea of being able to get something with groups and also having something to raid for later).

Now should the heroic version be so awesome that it is a class defining change? No I think not, that should be saved for the raid version of the epic. I think the stats on that weap are just about right. One of the best items out there currently but not completely overpowered. Now when the "Epic Version" Epics come out I hope there will be a significant improvement in the weapon. Hopefully those weapons are hard to get and do have that "wow" factor. Personally I am satisfied and I have been trying to post more when I'm happy on these forums and not just when I"m [Removed for Content] off.

I was surprised that a quest hailed as epic would be so short..you had to work longer on your claymore. Or prisma 1&2.Nicely done though - maybe a tiny bit unfair towards some classes..who had to do heritage quests or kill legions for their starters to drop, or actually camp nameds - but I'm not one to complain there . The craft epic was one of the funniest pieces I've ever seen in eq2..smoking out wasps and those puppets in nek3...priceless! And I haven't seen our mythical/epic reward yet, but please, please - no meaningless pet procs that raise our dps by a tiny fraction!Make it epic..something that no nekro will ever want to put aside again. Cast speed comes to mind... (a HUGE fun factor imho). The staff might already be implemented, but it surely isn't too late to make it awesome. Duck would've been better imho..but then again, I play a gnome, others do their best to appear..undead, scary (I guess), so that's alright with me.

I am so glad it isn't the duck head, while I find the graphic a little lacking compared to a few of the other epic weapons I still like the spining fangs and floating skull, and look forward to seeing what the in game mythical particle effects look like. Was a bit miffed at the proc being poison but I can deal since the pet does debuff poison too. All that being said I know alot of people are unhappy the proc doesn't cater to the soloer or scout spec'd necro, guess what, it's designed for raiding...once past the learning raid zones (t1-t3) the warlock pet out performs the scout by far, this epic was tailored to enhance the end game necro even more than AA's do. And to complain about the epic weapon not boosting the tank pet is pretty much not getting the point of what the epics were put in game for, clearing raid zones and pulling avatars.

Quest wise we lucked out pretty well in that once you figure out where to start it the clues pretty much give away the progression and the required kills are needed by others so getting groups isn't too hard, plus the first reward gives the casual player that fabled tag they have longed for for so long but not actually wanted to put the work into learning encounters with 23 other people to earn. I was very casual myself for a while and still support the casual player so don't take that too harshly, just an observation of some new comers to the game.

And to answer one poster, the not modifiable except directly text is reffering to the proc chance not being affected by group buffs, more spell dmg gear/int/crit/base dmg mods will affect the damage, and it does crit for some decent numbers.

I've only tested the raid epic briefly - one thing that disappointed me from the very beginning was it being focused too much on raiding. You get to summon a master 4 mage pet with 25-30% more powerful spells and finally a decent-sized hp- and manapool, stats and resist, that stays alive even when you die (cool! 5s less for rebuffing! Thanks soe..honestly, very nice) - but only the mage pet. Why not let it summon the type of pet casted last, maybe scale it with the spell quality of your original pet so masters won't loose their worth? So we could continue to use scoutpets in groups.A AOE-immunity and 20% pet spellcrit proc, 5 casthaste and a weird dot damage increase which looks fun but the exact benefits are hard to determine...honestly, couldn't have asked for more. Graphic is fine too...let us cast m4 scout and tank pets (adept x+3 if one has that pet on adept x) and we'll be happy campers...in the non-farming way Well done devs!
The group epic proc is worth about 19.7 dps (unmodified) not counting what your mage pet would do with the 10% bonus. I will work on the epic just to say I have it but I like my Split Infinity: 2HC, +84 INT, +300 mana, +95 health, +200 spell damage, +8 disruption, Arcane Recovery II, Sorcerous Alacrity II, 58-328 melee dmg, delay 4. So, I won't be in a big rush.
