Whattup folks?! I've been away since 2005. I recently got the itch and decided to log in. Surprisingly enough my lvl 42 Monk was still available and pretty much intact to my surprise. As one would expect there have been a lot of changes over the years. I've redone the new char level just to get reacquianted with the game so now I'm running around Norrath again with my main char. I just had a few questions for you all to get me pointed along the right path. Any answers I can get are much appreciated. If you all know some cool websites I can check out for answers those are great too!

I'm not sure how long my venture into EQ2 may last but I'm thinking about picking up the all-inclusive Kunark expansion. If I wanted to piecemeal it though, which expansion do I need to unlock my Monk and the other "skill" tree (is that even the right name?)?

I'm pretty much into soloing while I explore new places. I was doing a little tradeskilling way back when too. With this in mind what skills should I choose as I progress down these skill trees?

What are good zones to do some soloing that will get me from 42 to 50? Are there any new quests that a monk should do so I can go back and knock them out?

I still have my old equipment thankfully enough but what types of armor and weapons should I have at lvl 42 nowadays? I had great armor and weapons for my level back in 2005 but what should I have nowadays?

I appreciate your help all!

I'll try to answer a few things for you.

The Kingdom of the Sky (KoS) expansion will make class (ie, brawler) AA trees available to you. Echoes of Faydwer (EoF) will make subclass (ie, monk specific) AA trees available to you. Both of those expansions have a level cap of 70. Up to level 70, you can earn as much as 50 AA points for each tree. Rise of Kunark (RoK) rasies the level cap to 80 and allows you to earn an additional 20 points for each AA tree (after you hit lvl 70).

In your level range, mastercrafted equipment (rare crafted) is a good way to go. The same zones from before in addition to Steamfont in the EoF expansion are best for low to mid 40's. RoK gives a new newbie area (1-20), the player city of Gorowyn, and content for 65-80. EoF has additional content for the range of 1-70, including a new newbie area and the Player city fo Kelethin.

A great resource is the eq2 wiki, http://eq2.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page.

IMO Kunark is worth it even if you're low-mid level because it enables all the other expansions (assuming you're missing them.) I think the best advice for someone just returning is to stay away from collection quests and sell the shinies on the broker to pay for gear. *grin*

Thanks so far folks. I think I'm gonna spring for Kunark. I found some stuff on the AA trees in the forums. I hope when I get these expansions everything makes sense. Thanks again!
