I first played eq2 in beta and then in release for a while, but got burned out and left before the first expansion. At that time I'd raised a 40 ish erudite illusionist.A few months ago the BF and I decided to try out EQ2 again, it being the first time for him. We attempted to play on Nagafen, but were quickly turned off by capped characters literally one shotting us, repeatedly. I'm not going to debate whether farming new players while in fableds is akin to melting ants with a magnifying glass - I'll just say I'm glad this practice has been hampered (personally). At any rate we are back and cannot wait to get into eq2 again - a game where you're not spoon fed constantly (WOW, I've been begging him to let us quit it for months), where theres a rich crafting system and where its actually fun to hang out. oh and the community is civilized compared to the cess pit of teenage rage that is wow.We are happy to be here, and now onto my request...I loved the illusionist, I think I'd like one again. The BF is considering a ranger. From what i've read this is a nice duo for pve but I've heard little about the duo's viability in pvp.The BF wants to play something visceral and violent - be that magic or physical or melee or ranged. I dont care - I'll make support for his character, though I'd prefer a cc angle. I refuse to play a coercer.Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

well all depends what you gusy want to do if you gonan lock i am not best person to give you advice but, if you plan to lvl i will say illusionest are awesoem and if you play them rigth i hate figthing them, swashy imo is the easies to play MAJOR dmg tracking, evac. Trackign is God in pvp ( well not really) but makes life in pvp much faster and easier to pick your figths. i also seen mystic and illusionest make a good dual ( but swashy and illusionest much better). Rangers LOTS of fun to play even if there dmg got nerf a little this expantion.

what really comes down to its your owen personal taste

p.s

need help send any of my toons a tell ( micegirl is my main)

thanks for the information and advice teq. "_"We will not be level locking. one of the best things when we played a few months back was getting out of fairy starter land into butcherblock. A new zone all blacked out. We had absolutley no idea where we were or where to go. god i've missed that in an mmo.

An illusionist and a ranger might seem like an odd couple at first sight, but thinking about it I find them quite workable. The ranger has tracking for the two of you to sneak up on your victims. He would start hostilities with some nasty bow shots, you send your pet in, root, stun, and stifle. This will give ranger the distance needed to continue an onslaught of arrows raining. Yeah, that can work.

we ended up rolling a coercer and assassin, with the intent to betray as soon as we can over to the Q side. Arasai are just soooo much better than fae imo - emo fairies > prancy ones.anyhow if you want to come pick on us we're kirran - coercer/illu-to-be and flappers - assassin/swashy-to-bethank you for your responses here and in PMs

Ranger/conjuror is a nice combo. Conjurors get a tank pet and buff the ranger with their fireseeds. Very deadly if played properly. Watch out the one-shots though hehe

My husband and I duo a lot and we have some favorite combinations.

Berserker and Warden - Fast damage, taunts, ranged attacks and fast heals with the utility of spirit of the wolf, evacuation and druid ring ports.

Necromancer and Warlock - Fast damage, several utility pets to choose from, life taps and a little bit of healing. (But very squishy.)

Assassin and Coercer (our new favorite duo, to our surprise.) Fast damage, ability to mezmerize opponents, stifle, ranged damage and the added bonus of an NPC charmed pet.

too late kul <3 we betrayed this afternoon. a kindly rat named halfounce helped us find our way to kelethin.tomorrow we should be proper citizens and I'll have my persona twin! seriously though, coercer charm has been so unreliable - its control breaks too randomly, and far too frequently for my liking. without a healer as well it can rapidly become a liability.flappers will get to stay as an assassin right? or can he choose assassin or swash when he becomes good aligned?(altruistic <img src="/eq2/images/smilies/69934afc394145350659cd7add244ca9.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY<img mce_tsrc=" />)

Flappers would become a ranger. However, I was reading the chat channels the other day and some guy had a bug where he stayed assassin after he finished his betrayal, so ya never know.
