This was mentioned in the other thread but I feel it deserves its own thread.

I don't mind the changes that they are making with locking too much, I really don't. I can understand why some people would be mad and some would love it. However this just total [Removed for Content] up the ability to attain pvp gear in the lower end. If you are forced to level now when you pvp then you can get enough faction for gear eventually, maybe not when you are the right level to first start buying them, but late t3/4 probably... but this totally [Removed for Content] out your AA because you've leveled up off all the kills pvp faction farming gets you.

The first pvp items are at around 8000 faction at lvl 20. Starting at -10k thats... 18k/35 = 515 kills, give or take some depending on the exact faction requirement. Experience comes very fast in the first few tiers and that many kills will probably push you up quite a bit level-wise, especially if you have vitality. Well say great, you get your pvp gear at t3 but whats this... you have ZERO AA. This just puts you behind. The faction costs for items either needs to be lowered at the low end and spread more evenly throughout the tiers, or the starting pvp faction needs to be raised up. If you raise the base pvp faction, everyone who is not at max faction should get the amount total to what was raised.

Fixing locking is fine, but do something about the pvp gear faction costs. Dont make players choose if they want a headstart on AA or the ability to buy the gear, but not both.

Good point, I wonder whats SOE's answer to this. Maybe reduce the amount of faction needed to get lowbie pvp gear or something. /shrug

On this issue, we have all been in agreement since we started playing.

The gear is not able to be attained at the level is it desirable. I have tested various characters and only once did I get the first items before it was grey.

That is again a valid point and has been so for a long time. We need to be able to buy the PvP gear by the time you are the level the gear is equipable. At higher levels this becomes less of a problem since the level caps and you have a good amount of time to earn the tokens.

A suggestion is to take the average faction rank among all the 20-25, 30-35, 40-45 etc... and make the items cost around that average. I know our current PvP Dev did not create the problem, but given time and us having some patience, the issues will be corrected.

If you look at this from a viewpoint of a new player who has decided to try out EQ2 PvP, I definitely agree that the starting faction of -10,000 is a huge stumbling block now, much less if the new changes to xp go live. I think raising this would be a great improvement for new players. Experienced players already know the ropes, and have a plan, not to mention a sugar Daddy somewhere, lol.

Of course, if the experience gained for each pvp kill truly isn't alot, then this won't be much different, except for a slow rise in xp gained. The xp gain level info is what I will be watching for.

I'm sure different level kills will probably reward different xp amounts as well.

The problem is only 50% gear anyways. The rest of the problem was with those who just mowed newbies down mindlessly. Even camping the lowest tier for a rewardless kill in the Tier 1 zones.I think they went a bit overboard by applying this too all the tiers though. T1-2 or 3 would have been fine. Then make PvP gear available at T4. Anyways.. that's why its on the Test Center.. hopefully enough people will actually login to Test and report it that way.

does faction gear mean anything? Yeah, of course, the belt is obligatory for scouts, but they are not gonna have issues getting 35k faction by lvl 80, even by lvl 55

Faction doesn't buy anything in T8 Therefore faction is a waste of time. Why does SoE need to make sure you can get lowbie PvP armour when you're a lowbie for like two days?

The lock change is definitely not in my favor. Looks like SOE is gonna take every game of theirs down hill just like they did with SWG.

Factions do need to be lowered to make up for this change.

As far as the lowbie pvp gear not being effective? I disagree.

Lvl 27 Mystic on Venekor server, 10 pieces of pvp gear, and only higher lvl Furys and a few select Assassins can beat me. The benefit of pvp gear is the resists. My lowest resist is around 45% and the majority are 50%+ with Heat and Cold topping off around 60%.

The biggest problem is going to be keeping your gear up to date now, with the rate at which us hardcore pvpers will be getting xp from kills. Hey, look on the bright side, maybe the outrageous prices of things will come down.

One final note, all of you that cried for long enough to have locking changed in some way or another, go play something else that you might have a better chance at. I think playing Candyland with your mommy would be more suitable for your type.

I'd agree with taking the -10,000 and removing the negative aspect; make it zero, and give those that have already rolled toons a 1-time +10,000 faction token to them, to offset the "new guy gets an edge and we get hosed" factor.

To the, Candyland comment, considering the fact that it will make things more challenging by doing this, perhaps you are the one in need of something a bit ... easier. Why fight opponents that can fight back, after all, when you can take advantage of an unintended benefit and get a huge advantage over anyone who hasn't had the time or resources to gank an unending stream of lesser-geared toons. If the prospect of a target turning on you and beating you down frightens you, perhaps something less threatening would be more suitable. With the upcoming changes to all Mastercrafted armors (making them Legendary equivalent), the PvP gear shouldn't have such a dramatic difference in stats. You'll adapt (same as all the lockers with the "you'll either adapt to PvP or leave" mindset) or you'll move on. If you choose the latter, please, don't let the door smack your hindquarters on the way out. If you stay, good, we'll see you around.

If they don't intend to GREATLY reduce the required faction for getting pvp rewards, then they should remove them from the game. By the time a player will have enough faction to be able to use level 20 pvp rewards they will already be level 80.
