ok guys since some how even though i dont see that many new players some peopel keep saying that locking is turning them away from pvp..

i really think this should be sticky so that any new player can see

so here is a little quick guide that will now make you in line with all the twinks withouth having to have a high lvl alt feed you cash

1. right at lvl 1 forget about quest forget about everything else now is th etime to get your explore EXP done... explore everywhere that you can im talking about from ant to DL and CL right from the start.. once you have all that done find a carpet and explore sinking sands and MAJ while you there.. once that is done go to NEK and on the docks take the bell to enchanted lands and explore everywhere you can....ok after doing this you still will be below lvl 10 so now with combat exp locked you go to DL do all the quest there at the noob tent.. when you get to the lvl 10 quest do them but do not turn them in yet... now you will go to GFAY do all the lvl 10 quest there but do not turn them in yet...

ok now is the time to unluck your exp so that you can DING lvl 10..

so now you are lvl 10 now turn combat exp back off.. now is the time to go and turn in all th elvl 10 DL and GFAY quest the GFAY quest should give you more lvl 10 quest do them and turn them in.. ok once you run out of lvl 10 quest here is where you will need to be in a guild that has alot of high lvl players....

ok first have a lvl 45-50'sh guild member to go to enchanted lands with you.. (you two must be grouped) all the NPC's on the dock and in the little house thing on the docks give AA.. have your high lvl friend kill the npc's by now you should have about 5-7 ... DING that should give you 4-6 AA just from the dock npc's now if you go off the docks and head left there should past the stingers there will be 4-5 more npc's at a little post have your friend kill them... ding more AA's.. ok by now you should have about 10 AA's

now you will need a even higher lvl guild member to go to sinking sands with you and kill names there..

after all of this stuff is done you are now at max AA for lvl 10 wich is 15 AA's so now is the time to go to TD and start getting your quest gear do all the quest till you have a full set of the lvl 11 quest gear there.. if you have to turn on combat exp to ding to lvl 11 to make it faster it is ok since you are already at max AA get your full set of quest gear.. keep in mind everytime you reach max AA for your lvl go ahead and turn on exp again and go onto the next lvl (rember max AA is 1.5 X's your lvl by lvl 14 you will have 21 AA's... now is your time to start your farming in graveyard and sunken city.. kill all the names you can there and get all the M1 drops you can.. any M1 that you can not use put it on broker.. wich in turn will give you the money for masters for your toon.. ok dont stop till yo uhave enough money for all your masters from lvl 10-19 should only take a couple days MAX as long as there is not to many peopel camping once place... (you can also group with peopel and do the fromt part of black burrow to kill some names to get chances at M1 drops... so now moove on back to TD and start doing the quest for the lvl 16 quest gear.. once you get your full set you are now ready for T2 PVP..

dont think though you wont be killed some by doing it this way just take every loss as a reminder that you will be full geared and all masters soon and you will get your revenge when you ding lvl 16

as for some of you that group for pvp here is the best thing to look at what 2 stats your toon needs the most... ok i will give a example take a scout .. go to broker and search for lvl 16 treasure gear.. STR and STA are stats you really need so in advance search select lvl 16 treasure gear and put th estat you are looking for either do STR or STA.. ok now alot of gear will show up. you want the resist gear that has both STR and STA

by doing this it will give your toon massice STR and STA wich in turn would make you free to put your AA's in the STA tree go ahead and put 8 in STA and 8 in AGI and 8 in WIS for even more resist....

you dont have to choose scout you could choose any toon and just buy the gear with the 2 main stats you need the the most like a fury could buy all wisdom and INT gear go ahead and get vortex by lvl 14 and start putting points in STA to raise your health

this little guild should help almost every new player who is wanting to PVP from the start..... yes this will take lots of work and atleast a days playing time and yes you will be ganked a few times but ohwell when this is done you will have one powerful toon...

even if you dont plan to stay in T2 you should still use the Iwarden guide.. by gaining max AA early you are free to unlock and go onto any lvl you want to pvp at... all you have to do is keep your creature killing low mostly just kill mobs that are for your quest.. once you thit about lvl 35 even creature EXP takes grinding to ding.. even if you just grind to gain lvls quck after this you still will have a powerful toon and some cash that now you can solo on your own even with classes that are not always best for solo......

i really hope this could help any new players to PVP or everquest in general...

also everything i have wrote about in this post is not agaist the rules of the game i hope some of you other twinks do not get upset because now every new player will now know your secret and now there should be very little people complaining that they can not PVP because of all the twinks and plat farmers out gearing them.....

oops one little more secret.. with all the extra cash you got from farming now is the time to raise your status.. first you will have saw all the little stuff that drops from some mobs like for example blackoned iron relics that must be turned in to a NPC wich in turn gives you status.. well forget about thoughs t2 chump change status items.. here is what you do.. since all your farming you should have some plat on you.... buy all the lvl 55 status giving items from broker.. buy say 100-400 of them. should cost anywhere from 2p-5p on good days.... turn all of thoughs in and your status will sky rocket to atleast 250k-500k now you have enough status to get a mount with alot of runspeed and bonus stats...

well now here it is for all you new players wanting to know how some of these players get so twinked well here is how alot of them did it...

now good luck cuz any now t2 PVP will see alot more even matches

Dunno how realistic it is for an unestablished player to get into a guild right off the bat and also convince a 50+ to go kill these mobs for him. Still, interesting read.

...I figured there had to be a trick to it. Just doing the level appropriate nameds and quests, and I mean all of them, in Ant/CL and DLW and related areas will give you, at best, 18-20 aa's by level 17.

A real new player shouldn't be supposed to do all this stupid things before being able to have fun. Telling new players they must lock is just wrong...

Anw you should wait for the next LU before doing this kind of guide, things should change...

look the next LU will bring nothing new and it will still be a while for it to come.. how about right now new peopel should spend time making sure they have max AA.. say htey remove lvl locking.. you do what i listed to do you already will have max AA so your toon will be strong all the way to end game....

same thing as last time one guy swears the devs said they will make big changes to the lvl lock system and what happen nothing. now this time a few peopel says the devs will make changes to the lvl lock system and i can almost be 100% sure again nothing big will happen.... Here is the deal unless you see anything about it from a dev then its just not true... this whole thing is getting out of hand by a few peopel who do not want to lock but dont want to die in the 3 hour time it takes to get to t2 to t3...

this whole guide was to stop any reason for new players not to know what to do.. YES it takes work but oh well.. why would you complain that you have to work to be good... most new players dont even know hom much good gear and good spells helps in PVE also there is a big differnce trying to lvl with AP1's and adept3's and m1's

Ok a few things here:

1. Why get discovery xp below level 10? That discovery xp could be adding to your aa if you were level 10 or above.

2. If someone was brand new to the game they wouldn't have any gear so skipping the noob isle quests and missing out on the starter gear would make questing at level 10 a little hard. And those low level gankers would love to see a level 10 without any gear.

3. I doubt anyone around 45-50 would let someone new to the game leech aa from them.

Our group is managing 27-30 AA by level 17, although, while our method is similar, ours is much more involved and time consuming. Its definatly not easy to do and is a huge time sink. Still though, less time than leveling up and gearing out.

Very well written and thanks for the time you took to write this. Its going to make things much more fun for me. Maybe I can last more that two seconds now! I have allways just wanted to get to 1.5 my level in AA and then just play the game normally without having to kill myself to maximize AA. This will help my gaming experience knowing I can be on more of an even playing field. I plan on locking a character in every tier because im here to pvp and having the max aa for each tier will be great! I have one character with max AA but that was back in the days of guards killing me. I know that part was lame but I really just wanted to compete because I solo 90% of the time! Time to find a Guild!

Thanks again!

Have writs always given AA xp?

Must be nice twinking these days. Back in February it was a struggle to get to 14 AAs by level 16, even with 50% debt. Then again, I always did hate questing. Grinding to 50, then getting a set of uber player crafted gear has always been more my speed.

Trying to make a troubador and max AAs as I can go, by only soloing, and just a few of the level 10+ RoK quests got me about 3 AA levels, but also a whole adventure level. I'm finding it very hard to believe that people can get to 30 AAs by level 17, having done 150+ quests, not even counting discoveries, named kills or items. Doesn't seem possible to me.

Simple and fast.It would be great if someone were willing to divulge a list of all the "named" that drop AAs like this; meaning everyone knows that you can camp named for AA, but many didn;t know you could go clear out some hair foots in EL or sentries in ANT for AA.Now all we need is for some level appropriate people to start offering "AA tours" of those zones/mobs, for a modest fee of course.

Thanks. This thread will most likely be overshadowed with the storm of Level Locking Was Nerfed threads, and its a shame as Qslaughter was nice to provide newbs with such a simple way to get a good start. With the changes to level locking, getting a good start on AAs and which named to kill for them will be a huge thing.

ok guys really going to try to go all out on this guide so that i can get it as a sticky. im working real hard right now and the guide will bw very precise on wich name to kill and what they drop.. of course this means i have to bring my 14 fury so that i can kill each name atleast 5 times so that i can list what each one drops and what % they drop at..... i really want to get this post a sticky so that new people learn the secrets to the game faster then it took me to figure it out all by myself lol after 15 differt re rolls i have now mastered the system

as for waht is on test server this really still will apply due to starting with max AA at lvl 10 you are free to almost unlock if you stick with doing a 50/50 on grind and quest due to you would only be able to gain 1 AA per each lvl you go up after you hit max at lvl 10.. jsut though i would bring that up good night guys and ty for all who have gave good comments about this

In some ways it annoys me someone would put together a guide like this, but in other ways, I think it is considerate of him to divulge many "secrets" that all the lowbie "twink" chars use to get the AA they have. I always did very well on farming AA, but I learned a couple things on his post that I did not know previously. And, I will say, that this does give a new player a better chance at competing and at least is offering the information needed if a new player would want to be on par with the players that have maxed AA at low level. Fact is, many people still do it, and at least this gives a newer player an idea how some of it is done. Also, people say that a new player won't or cannot understand the mechanics of this post, really you'd be surprised new players are noobs, but they are not stupid. Whether it was intended by SOE or not, changes nothing on how players get the AA. So, a "guide" like this is only helpful to the masses. So pros and cons weighed, this is a useful and helpful post I think.

I don't mean any offense to the OP, but just a brief look at your 7 characters, 6 of the 7 being below 20 with Iwarden as your highest being 25, none are even close to the aa cap. Iwarden seems to be the best off with 29aa's at 25. Just thought that was quite ironic that you would post a reasonably good guide without ever following it yourself!

This completely makes obvious why SOE is adding exp to pvpTwinkers expected every player to do this to compete?Right. Ridiculous jargon that no player should need to do ever. Running around all over the game for hours before even playing at all? Yeah, thats how SOE planned for content to be experienced!Oh wait, NOPS.Really wow it shocks me how different min maxers are compared to gamers like me who are in it for a fun experience instead of a fat ugly W

you now what is sad is people like you who join a pvp server that has been up for years and think from day 1 you have earned the right to be just as good as us who have ben here longer... if you want to enjoy the game then go to a blue server and come back when your ready to PVP at the tier of your choice

Psych

I'm ready to pvp at the tier I'm on....apparently SOE doesnt feel your capable of pvp at the tier your on.Hence the current test server patch the goal of which is to fix your style of pvp FOR A REASON.Stop treating this like a debate, its a fix for something lockers exploited its not happening because of complaints.Oh, and it doesnt matter if people feel they should be equal the moment they log on or if you think your time spent should mean you get to stay at that tier forever.SOE makes the rules that govern the game. You have 2 choices here... A) Play the GameB) Dont Play the GameOh, and by your idea of time=power on a pvp server the first people who created characters when the server came up would always and forever be the strongest. Oh wait no game in the current market has that system!! Wonder why!? Cause its dumb.New players are supposed to be able to catch up easily and indeed if you bother to read about the fix your all whining over you will see its obvious goal is to take pressure of new players by getting the twinks that gank them to level and by making twink gearing not so necessary to pvp at each tier since outleveling that tier will make buying the gear less appealing since it wont be usful for nearly as long. You can say whats sad or what isnt sad all day long. Nobody cares what you think is sad and nobody ever asked what you think is sad.SOE did put a change on the test server and as far as everyone knows now its going live soon. Still no word on devs asking what YOU think is sad. 18 page post on the twink fix...no posts on what YOU think is sad.Soo...what did we learn?HINT: It has something to do with nobody giving a ratongas backside about what you think is sad.and you made a typo. YOU LOSE! GOOD DAY SIR! (<--thats from charlie and the chocolate factory willy wonka ftw)

i have had a few T3 lvl locked toons and have done very well.. but ive never done the things on that list... my toons are lvl 24 with 28 or so aa's and ive gotten em through questing and lvl approite nameds, and i still have done very well.

i have a couple new toons i made just a while ago and they only have 18 aa's at lvl 18 but they still do well at pvp and im doing quests till all the green ones are gone then i pvp a bit and when i lvl i do the green quests again. the problem im seeing on both sides is peeps dont gear their toons and they die soo fast, i dont even bother with green con peeps, i rather kill even conn and higher, unless they attacke me first then i will defend myself. even the yellows and oranges drop easy with poor gear.

u dont have to be uber aa to pvp.. but it does help, however if u are trying to pvp with all app 1's and lvl 1 gear u will die in a few seconds.

it's not hard to get MC gear and adept 3's made at lower tiers, one of my toons is a Q, and he started with no coin, but up to now im lvl 18 with full MC gear and adept3's.. the rares drop pretty fast for T1 and T2. i made him a scholar to make the adept 3's for myself and found someone working in the tradeskill place to make the armor and weapons, and hex dolls for me. some peeps even made the stuff for free the other i gave a coulple rares i didnt need as payment.. if u get into a guild then the guild peeps can most likely make stuff for no cost if u harvest the rares.
