System/Game Hangs with AMD Quad Core Pls Read

There is a report that apparantly some of the AMD Quad Core "Barcelona" chips have a defect that causes system hangs during certain conditions but rarely.  This may affect this game."Not much is known about the specifics of the erratum, but it is related to the translation lookaside buffer (TLB) in the processor's L3 cache. The erratum can cause a system hang with certain software workloads. I read about this a few months ago and basically it is what made the higher speed Phenom's unavailable at launch.  The chips with the problems weren't put into mass availability since they found out about it before the street date of release.

This refers to B2 stepping chips not the old B1 error.  This is new.  And these DID make it into production.

Updated <a href="http://www.dailytech.com/Understanding++AMDs+TLB+Processor+Bug/article9915.htm" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">article from DailyTech</a> the news site for Anandtech one of the oldest online hardware review sites states the bug will be fixed in stepping B3 which is coming in March.
