PC-cillin blocking EQ2 from changing a DLL - result can't play

I am getting a message from PC-cillin when I go to play EQ2. Everquest2.exe is attempting to configure Windows so thay a program library (DLL) is automatically loaded by some or all of your applications. EQ2 loads but then it comes up and says servers locked or down. Are the two thing related?

Turn off the real time scanner.  Real time virus scanners and ANY MMO including EverQuest II do not mix.

It is something beyond the real time scanner because even disabled the message saying it had stopped everquest2.exe came up.
