So I decided to re-install EQ2 after about 20 Months off. My timing was perfect....I re-installed and downloaded everything, not knowing it was in the middle of GU39. . So at least I confirmed that SOE time estimates haven't changed in the last couple of years . The good thing is that it gave me some time to do some reading on the forums.

So here I am sitting on my 60 Ranger (Legendary/a bit of fabled and adept 3's and Masters) not having a clue what to do with him. I'm looking for some suggestions on what to do: essential quests, where to hunt etc.

I must have decided to go on a spending spree before I quit, I have about 300 vials of 2 year old poison sitting in my bags. I made some alchemist out there happy. This being a noob all over again is making me itchy. Thanks in advance for the suggestions.

If you give us a hint about your playstyle we can help you out a little more. Are you going to solo, group, or raid?

I'll be soloing for a while until I get my legs under me. I still have a lot of friends playing so I will be grouping some. I'll probably hold off on raiding a while.

Short answer 70/30 Solo/Group.

Mastercrafted is no longer the best non-raid stuff you can get, it is simply stuff to get to tide you over until you can get legendary. Legendary now drops like candy in all the zones - SoS, Vaults, PoA, Sepulcher. In EoF, you have your class legendary gear which drops in OOB, CoV, MMC, CMM, and Unrest. One piece drops in each zone off of the boss mob. This is the best gear you can get until you upgrade to fabled. In terms of AA:Most rangers go Agi/Int for the most dps in KoS trees. Some choose Agi/Sta for a nicer solo build. But Agi is a must with the final ability - poise. In EoF, again most rangers go max dps with Extension, DoubleAttack and 5 in caustic. But there are alot of other ways to go to. Depending on what you like. For bows, do the raincaller quest ASAP. It is the best bow you can get until you get a fabled bow. And it also has a great stun that makes solo'ing nice nad easy.

Bows: get Rain Caller for soloing, Ghostly Bow of Bylze for grouping and raiding. Use these until RoK, you are very unlikely to get a better bow.Always use the highest possible level arrows (adamantine), because the bow and arrow mechanics are completely idiotic.

Yeah, examine your summoned arrows now, and you will notice a huge difference in them and the crafted arrows you can get from woodworkers.

I guess my suggestion would be to explore as much as possible to boost your AAs. Visiting lower level zones will give you discovery exp, and feel free to mentor for any quests that you want to finish below your current level. The AA bonus will move pretty fast. I enjoy mentoring down for dugeons I missed while leveling up, but that's my play style. I know friends of mine who refuse to mentor, but for me the option has always been fun.

Make good use of Lesser Fay and Loping Plains. They each have a good many solo and group quests lines.

Welcome back!

Thanks for the replies guys. My quest journal is jammed with old quests. Good place to start to get used to playing again. The game feels a lot different than I remember. Time to get used to new tactics heh. Have been doing more reading than playing.
