View Full Version : Synergy : Coercer or Illusionist is better for a troub? Why?

Howdy,Welp, in my character list, I have a dirge (my main), starting a troubadour, and then I want to start a character as an Illusionist or a Coercer that best compliments one of my Bards. To better explain, as a Dirge, the Dirge have extra debuffing to disease resistances allowing a pairing with a Shadowknight (SK) or a Defiler to have nice synergy since the SK's and Defiler's damage is disease based as well like the Dirge. However, I am looking for an Enchanter to accomplish this pairing instead of a SK, Defiler, or any other adventure class.I have read that a Illusionist compliments a Troubadour quite well, but the post never explicitly stated the synergy. I am wondering the same question for my Dirge as well.I want to start an Enchanter and I want to choose the one that better fits my Dirge or choose the one that better fits my Troubadour.Which Enchanter work the best with one of the Bards?I am doing research on the spell lists of both Enchanters, but this will consume a noticeable amount of time. I am hoping y'all have the off-hand knowledge to satisfy this question. (I would post this in the Dirge forum as well however I think the forum rules regarding cross-posting would not allow this.)

Well, essentially, the illusionist can give an extra spell proc (synergism), haste, double attack and cast/recovery/reuse buff to the troub (well, and conc free power regen and some extra int). I dont have any high level coercers, so not sure of the extent of what they can give to a troub, but from what I know, its less usefull stuff. Ive run my illusionist along with my troub a bit (just got troub to 70 so havent had much time to play around) and they are working well together. I might be wrong (not the first time ), but id guess that illus would give both bards more in a duo. Coercers have more benefits towards hate controll and tank support kind of.

Illusionist is problaby the easier choice but you'd be able to clear through certain things faster with a coercer.

Honestly, I am starting out, as in just created one yesterday, as a troubadour so I do not know anything about them yet; i'm gonna have to do some research. At http://www.eq2ref.com/abilities/diff.php, I quickly read the differences of the two chanters.A quick summation below. I skimmed the differences of the two yesterday and didn't take notes so I am possibly missing more about both Enchanters:---- Coercers requires a thoughtstone, has a INT + AGI group buff, focus in increase combat offenses, charms mobs, noxious mob debuff, hate increase toward another character.---- Illusionist utilizes a pet that's a weaker clone of the illusionist, has a INT + WIS group buff, single target attack speed buff, short duration int and spell casting ability buff, take hate away from illusionist. From what i've skimmed, I'm able to say that Coercers synergy with a Dirge is their AGI and noxious debuff. AGI since Bards gets a unique power boost from AGI, and the noxious debuff since the Dirge's magic damage is disease.I've gotta do more research about the Troubadour before I specifically can type anything compared to the Troubadour. Thanks for the responses. I hope to read more.

Hey, im a lvl 70 troub on nagafen...good side...however i haven't had the chance to group/raid with a coercer i have noticed that the illy's Time Compression and Illutionary Arm really help my DPS. i am not STA spec'd for pvp any more as i am duel wielding the Spell proc sword and the melee proc sword that you get from Nizara...(cant thing of the names atm) My aa spec is WIS/AGI and when i have the dbl attack and haste(s) i seem to do more damage...(300 just melee) casting i easily get to 650 dps having the Illy is better imo because when i play my class i think of myself more as a mage than a scout (with JC i can cast spells constantly which helps with POTM + illy temp. buffs)

BTW <3 raid wide 1.3k heat and cold buff =P

Illusionist / Troub duo FTW

Here is why.

Illusionary Arm

~ Toss in the single target haste buff and you're cutting mobs down like crazy.

Time Compression

~ TC will allow you to cast Precision and Jesters more often, coupled with Illusionists ability to fast cast means SERIOUS damage from PotM procs for your nuking Illusionist.

Synergy

~ Added mental damage proc on a spell cast... What's not to like?

More power regen than you can shake a stick at.
