One thing I always loved about WOW over EQ was that my character could lie down. There is a feign death graphic, so it is there, but I can't find a command to access it.Also awesome would be the ability to sit on chairs properly, but thats not as much a priority and I could see it being a pain.

Thats because the only one who can access the feign death graphic is those who actually feign death.

There's an actual sleep graphic too. Some NPCs do it. You lie on your back. Would be cool of players could do that.

I think it'd be a hilarious message to send to a tank that pulls too slow

My SK friend keeps making me FD, and I know I normally wouldn't be able to do so.

yea, that is one of the very few things I liked about WoW , the emotes. Different dance style for every race? who woulda thunk it!

Yeah the use of real world dances would be just cheap, lazy and mood breaking. As it is in the games that use them.

most of the races in EQlive had seperate dances. At least genders did.

Good times. I miss my Twi'Lek Master Dancer/Smuggler.

FD does not equal sleep. It would however; be nice if we could lie down on our backs or sit down like some of the NPC's do.

In Guild Wars, the female Necromancer class's dance was the Michael Jackson "Thriller" dance. It was really neat. The dancing system would be great! I'd rather have a dancing in-game mini-game, rather than that card game. It'd have been more interesting and fun, and like you said, would've brought out more of a social response game-wide, instead of isolating the handful of people who like card games from the rest of the population.

The GW dances were definitely not very fantasy in nature, but they did set them up to match the character's personality to a degree. The big burly fighters doing that disturbing Chippendales/Pulp Fiction/whateveritwas was creepy/funny. I always giggled when I ran by a group of Rangers break dancing. And the necro's would do thriller or start headbangin'.

The cool thing about GW dances was you could coordinate so you could have a whole dance line going. I do rather miss the creativity in clothing design there. (Usually played a monk or mesmer)

The dance system in SWG was really cool. I was working on an entertainer before my main SWG-character's class was removed (how I miss my Creature Handler! *sigh* ). It would be neat if there were more /dance emotes than what we have currently. Like, keep the main one, but then add in a racial /dance for the various races, and then maybe a few other dancing options. Just for fun. It would be a blast.

Ooh! Just bumbled into something in the TS stuff. There's a craftable item coming in GU38 called Hair of the Dog or somesuch. It makes your character pass out drunk for 5 minutes. You can cancel it when you want and you're not really "out". I suppose it could be used the way the OP was thinking.

Here's a linky

Always has.

I actually brought up the chair thing in my post 'Horses, Carpets, Wargs Oh My!' and this is probaby the best reply regarding that subject IMHO

Aurumn@Unrest wrote:

This has actually been brought up repeatedly through the years. The most recent example I could pull up in a hurry was here. Here's a snippet of a good summary...

"Chair sitting was brought up at Fan Fair, and if I remember Scott's responce properly it comes down to this. Like armor dyes and a few other features players think the devs could "just turn on". In order to allow chair sitting you accually have to have designed the game to allow it from fairly early in production(in other words it would have to be included in the engine itself) as the origanal Devs(back in like 2002) who where working on it EQ2 at the time desided that allowing chair sitting was not importaint enough to work out all the technical issues with chairsitting, it was not included in the engine. To add it now would require a major reworking of the game engine wich is kinda prohibitive at this time." - Snipped from ke'la's post

Not that it fixes anything but it did help explain maybe why SoE doesn't 'fix it'

~Journee
