View Full Version : Endless combat music!!!
<p>Come on guys this is killing groups. People can't stand to have that in their ears all night long. The player ends up camping out and leaving because it will just happen again. </p><p><img src="/smilies/1069449046bcd664c21db15b1dfedaee.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></p>

for clarification - when this happens to me it is due to zoning while in combat, including evac, and is not consistent. It can happen four times in one session (night's play) then not again for a week. It can also double up - evac from a second fight and get a second persistent soundtrack as well - so two battle tracks + ambient track

<p>I would rather have the combat music looping than Sherry Lewis' song ... this is the song that never ends ...</p><p>Ack. Did this happen after the latest patch?</p>

That is not a fix and only happens on SOME hardware setups... This is a persistant bug that alot of people can not fix.. i have just finished doing some solo killing in MMcastle, didnt zone once and I actually had 4 loops of combat music going along with the background music track. The ONLY fix, was to camp out. Persistant bug, that seems to come up with nearly EVERY live update. Developers must be recycling old files or something for it to keep coming back.

I personally can only remember 1 time where combat music wouldn't stop and it was because of an evac. My main problem however is with tradeskilling room music and the character select screen music. Being as I do a lot of tradeskilling and switch between characters fairly frequently I've noticed sometimes the TS instance music will overlap onto the city music of whatever other character I log into, and occasionaly when I switch without being in a TS instance, it hangs on the char select screens music and plays it underneath the zone music. At first I thought maybe it was something conflicting because of Vent or Teamspeak, or maybe an audio card thing, but I have unistalled both programs to try the Vent/Teamspeak theory, and have tried dropping back to a previos driver for sound on the sound card theory and nothing seems to stop it... Is it possible this could be related to the combat music? Has anyone else had this problem as well? Or any suggestions?

I get this problem a few times a day, its hard to actualy pin down whats causin it, just seems random to me. Turnin my combat and master volume down to 0 and back up does fix it for me though. Glad I dont have to relog or anythin.

Same problem here also. But...have you tried playing with music and combat music off? There are some awesome atmospheric sound effects I just never noticed before.

There is such a thing as combat music? But seriously, i turned all the in-game music off 3 weeks after purchasing eq2. I prefer putting on some other music than hearing the same stuff over and over again. Maybe that would also help in your case for the time being <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

<p>I find music is adding "depth" to most zones in game... allows for better immersion into the virtual world... can't imagine Solusek Eye without its music for instance. It is awesome.</p><p>Still have themusic ON for almost 3 years now...</p>

Combat music is helpful to know what's going on if you are looking at bags or items. I replaced the combat music with some other bombastic soundtrack tracks I found on the web.

EQ2 Combat music vs The Clash/etc = no Combat Music <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

Or sometimes, the city music overlaps to other zones, be it a TS instance or any other zone I go to from the city.

<p>Me and my girlfriend also have this trouble... Almost everytime we start a PVP fight... Even if I turn off my music and put it back, the problem remains. The only way for me is to log off and log on =(</p>

<p>Go to your sound options and untick the box beside force looped music thingie, music will loop once then shut off. Turn it back on when all the music stops.</p>
