This was a pickup raid where a good slice of the raid got at least something for their efforts even if it wasnt worth a lot nowadays. I've only recently done some pickups in tier 7 and there's usually at most 1 item in any given chest. I've not been involved in any tier 7 contested but I'm wondering if these bulging chests are only dropped from the contested mobs?

That would have been quite a haul for old world, before they made 90% of the items in the game worthless.

Confusd on why you are calling this a "cheat"? do you have some indication that someone in the raid was able to manipulate the drops or what?

No they dont come jampacked like that aymore, usually 1-3 items depending on the mob and crafting components are pretty rare.

No idea if there are chest at T6&7 which are this full. But I certainly hope so. The number of items in a chest on raid encounters are probably random.

The biggest difference I can recall between the tiers is that in Tier 5 you'd see a lot of wooden chests from raid targets. It's easy to gloss over that little factoid when we call up rosy rememberences of the halcyon days of yore.

Even in instances, we'd see lots of wooden chests back then. Some targets, like Rognog, always dropped master chests (but still had fewer items in the chests, even then). That said, a run through Spirits of the Lost was a quick way to jam your packs full of goodies - even if a lot of fabled didn't end up dropping.

Obviously, I'd prefer exquisite chests with large lists of loot, all things being equal. However, if I had to choose between guaranteed (or nearly guaranteed) master chests that had only a few items and only a chance at a master chest that was chock full of loot, I'd take the guaranteed chance of an exquisite any day of the week.

(There are still raid targets today dropping wooden chests from time to time, by the way).

Most of the giant T5 chests also didn't drop more than 1-2 fabled items (depending on the mob), and there was a lot of Treasured filler. I'm not sure that throwing in rares is all that helpful these days, either, since no one is going to wear Mastercrafted gear and the brokers are flooded with Master spells.

Ended up getting 5 items off Tarinax last night. Relic leather cap, shield, mage earring, master spell, and Dragonhide leather pelt.

DMP drops fairly loaded chests, as does Wuoshi. Although Wuoshi's mainly because of the 5 wolfsbane.

Maybe i'm too old school but I wouldnt complain if my packs were heavier with a couple of rares, a few coins and one or two treasured from a run through a tier 7 zone with a lockout that stretches to days.

Most of the time I come out with maybe 1% AP (unless its a new zone), 20-30g in debt and no loot. Sad really.

A couple of us mentored some lower-leveled guildies yesterday and we killed a few Epics (K'znar the Unnatural in EL & Coldtooth in TS) both dropped Equisite Chests with that were loaded with stuff (similar to OP's posting)...a bunch of rares, some decent gear and some Fabled pieces. I read this thread the other day and was saying to myself that I had never seen such a thing, usually my luck...and was pleasantly surprised yesterday to see it happen twice. But as someone else stated, won't see these kinds of chests past the Original game (Expansions).
