I'd just like to have a look at the Cataclysmic Mind nerf for PVP, and maybe try and swap some opinions as to why it shouldn't be nerfed the way it has been.

If we look at a coercer's damage arsenal, our top damaging spells are our reactives. Our 2 dots are fairly weak, and our DD is pretty much the equivalent of another mage's dot. What this means is that in order for a coercer to do damage solo, they have to be hurt. We are mages. We are the squishiest of mages (Coercers dont get the manashield type AA that sorcerers do).

Cataclysmic mind works in much the same way as our reactives do. The opponent spends power (usually on damage dealing abilities) and they get hurt for it. The only time this doesnt occur is when a healer spends power to heal themselves. However, cataclysmic mind is curable! It's a debuff just like any other. So our most awesome spell in PVP (so awesome its being nerfed) requires us to take damage too, and is curable by any decent healer.

There is also the fact that we have an AA to boost this skill. Why nerf a skill, then give us something to improve it? (by 25%). Perhaps a better solution would be to change that AA we have to maybe increase our nuke power, or something similar. We have the least dps of pretty much any dps class, and a fair few of the healers. I just dont see how it's fair to further reduce our semi pathetic damage output.

its curable maybe by wardens tranquility only, because you have many arcane stuff on target, in next lu they will add reuse timer on cures so all should be fine... use ALOT spell lash it hurts them when they try to cure

O.k. have to agree on this one. We have no mana shield, no defense, no hit points, paper armor, no mana shield (yes, twice for effect) no perceptors bodyguard, no ability to heal, no large direct damage, no large DOTs and our damage comes from them hitting or nuking us????

Gee, wonder why the Coercer is one of the least played classes...

But wait, we have a (selective) pet that can do damage (which is heavily mitigated in PvP) if we live long enough to sic it on our opponent. Umm, well thats right, our pet, 50% of our DPS, can be "cured" by a simple spell. Makes sense.

We are Coercers, root of the word, to "Coerce." Can we Coerce Q's to bid to our will, like a Troub? Sure, we can charm them with our 18 minute cast 3 concentration slot using Charm spell that costs 800 plat, but they just stand there..

Back to the root of our class, "coerce".

When we Coerce a mob that heals, it doesn't heal us.. When we Coerce a warrior mob, it doesn't taunt...

While I am glad that Bards got a well deserved buff, regardless of PvE or PVP, the Coercer class could use some love in the survivability.

Scenario:

Magma the 70 wizard hits YOU with Fusion for 4,300 hit points of damage! Leaving you with 300 hps left!

You begin casting.

You have mezzed Magma.

You begin casting.

You put cataclysmic mind on Magma!

You begin casting.

You put Minds Eye on Magma!

You begin casting.

You put Spell Lash on Magma!

Magma breaks free of your mez!

Magma begins casting.

Magma hits YOU for 4,300 hit points of damage!

Magma has killed YOU!

Magma is stunned!

Magma takes 900 hit points of damage after his ward absorbed 1,800 hit points of damage!

Magma laughs as he loots your corpse!

This is not against wizzies or saying they should be nerfed, but simply stating, again, that Coercers REALLY need some love!

This spell (and the fact its in the Coercion tree) really bother me... and that I'm forced to spend 3 points on this to get Coercive Healing I don't pvp much, but on regular PVE its less then 2% of my meager DPS (typically a night I average in the MT group around 570 dps, and my partner 950ish, but hes much better geared), in group content it usually deals no damage, especially against EOF mobs which don't seem to use power at all Maybe retuning it to dealing damage whenever a target loses power (like all our handy lines which drain power... now that mobs seem to have near infinite power if heroic or epic)

i made a post on fighting with my geared 70 warden against a very skilled 70 coercer on pvp test. you can see my results in the post "i like the pvp changes in gu36" or so. basically i saw this 70 coercer rip apart healers and many other people without the opponent having a chance to land an attack. i tried with my warlock and i was dead after a minute of not even having a chance to attack! so i took my warden (very tough to beat 1v1) and fought the coercer. it was hard with only 1 or 2 cures since a coercer will stack up to 7 or more arcanes. but thankfully the heals outhealed the dmg i was being done and i survived and won despite a couple close moments. in the end i feel the coercer is a very viable pvp class as is and a skilled player can do wonders with it. glucagon
