In my opinion: Warlock is best for group vs group PVP (and PVE) Wizard is best for 1 on 1 PVP (and PVE) If you play high end one thing to keep in mind is that in group vs group pvp it is very difficult for healers to heal multiple people compared to a single target, so AE damage is always good.

Wizzy got a bit more defensive abilities which make em last little longer in solo pvp... warlock got nullmail tho which is a nice proc, and also a few wards from AAs etc.. I'd say wizzy for solo warlock for group.. then again no caster is really meant to be played solo + all this might change very much in next GU

I personally loved my wizard for pvp, I always thought of my fights as puzzles. Figure out how to kill each person most efficiently. Just remember, it's not target and nuke...the wizards who do just that are the ones who post about how bad wizards suck.

Warlock for groups. Wizard for single/solo/groups. But they are both getting nerfed, so.

if you tend to lvl lock at t3 than a wizard is quite teh shizznet ^^ in higher lvl the warlock has more advantages in grp vs grp pvp.

And I love seeing my warlock buddy one or twoshot whole groups of greens.

As others have said, warlock is best for groups and wizzys are best for single encounters. You're not very likely to come into many one on one situations so I would go with a warlock.

with the exception of some very well equipped druids, or only one very well played SK , I have never lost a 1vs1 with my lock. (there are a few exceptions, but ussually when I made a mistake, and beat said person 90% of the time).

Also, should note claim has only been since I have locked at lvl 37 and my progression to 40! Warlocks are very tough, but will have to see how the inpending nerf will effect them.

I play a 70 Wiz PvP and I had to answer this question for myself too. I went with Wiz because I figured if I'm in a group I'm somewhat protected by my buddies. So the question I asked was: Which of the two is more likely to survive a 1v1 fight.

BTW, do warlocks get manashield? I forget whether it's on the sorceror tree or the wizard tree. If warlocks don't get manashield, then it's a no contest win for the wizard.

Manashield is on the sorceror tree down the sta line, both classes have it.

Warlocks have nullmail, which is far superior to the defensive abilities of any mage. Let me put it this way, unless spells are resisted non-stop, a warlock with nullmail triggered and manashield up using focussed casting is untouchable for 15 seconds. So, if you are fighting a target that can be killed in 15 seconds provided they don't run away and couldnt take your HP from 31%+ to 0% in 1 hit, you win. Wizards can get manashield, but without the increased avoidance and mit from nullmail, that mana pool goes quick, then you are just fodder. Thats my .02 I know lots of wizards who have gone to Warlock for pvp, i don't know any who have gone back.

your overlooking the most important ability any caster could have. Evac. lets face it most casters out roaming alone are gonna be jumped by more then one person, probably a couple of rogues and a druid. That group will eat through any defense a caster my have through AAs. Nothing beats a quick evac for [Removed for Content] off gankers. IN my book if i escape i win.
