From what ive seen so far Soe, has bunched us together into a metropolis setting, one for good one for evil. As for hometowns, ive read many post redarding Iksar getting the shaft on RoK. Here are some things to consider, The Haflings have been pwd for a while now, Rivervale is there in full, but due to flamer nightbloods they cant go home, Heaven forbid Qeynos offer any aid. Wood elves got to return home only beacues the Fae built off there ruins and finaly let folks back in. Felwithe is think under the thumb of the puppet master Mistmoore, and again Heaven forbide that noble city of Qeynos or Kelethin help to over throw the ruleing power and restablish the high elves. The Dwarves also have a city overun with underhoot denizens. I exspect the Iksars to also get pwned. Hey look its Cabiblis!.... to bad its full of water and mobs........

It seems to be Soe sparked a cry for folks to want to return to there hometowns from eq1, Unfortunatly I have a feeling most are going to be xp zones :/

Woot for the Dark elves btw they get there caves back, but i think they have the same bug problem as Kelethin :p jk love you winged folk to. Also is not Qeynos a city of Paladins? would they not want to help the Dwarves High elves, and haflings? boils down to doability and that kind of live event although it would be frakin awsome, would be problematic.

I understand the nostalgia, but I would honestly prefer that they don't go too overboard with the introduction of too many starting location cities. There's only so many people in the world and introducing too many home cities could mean that they'd be ghost towns a lot of the time. The set up now is pretty good in the respect of interactions with others, Freeport and Qeynos can be pretty big hubs of social interaction and roleplay. While Kelethin hasn't really detracted from this, and hopefully Neriak and the Sarnak city won't, if we have 10 cities it might.

As new starting cities? Probably won't happen. But as Maj'Dul-esque cities that you can also live in, on top of the starting cities? I can easily see the other cities return over the course of the next few years. We don't know in what capacity Sebilis will be used in RoK, so it could happen there. Tunnels could be dug in Everfrost and the Feerrott into Halas and Oggok, leading to a Live Event to retake those cities Rivervale's been around long enough that the city could probably be liberated with a minimum of fuss; although they should probably create some sort of replacement dungeon to shift all the Rivervale content into. The Faydwer cities are probably still too new to go and change like this, but I could see it happening in another year or two.

It hurts me sooooo that i slay a high elf in the name of a quest. I want my city back *cry*. But that is beside what i was posting for. Turning attention to the bolded part. Fae dont like high elves. They tollerate us but they dont like us. They would never and have stated that they would never help take back felwithe. (Do the tunare cloak quest and yah will learn why). But yes i agree Qeynos has been sitting on their hands when it comes to helping the other cities be taken back for their original owners. I exclude FP in this because Lucan is NOT happy with neriak. He would sooner see neriak destroyed then let the citizens leave. He is power hungry and doesnt want anyone to leave dingy FP.

Also, bear in mind that Qeynos or Kelethin might notbe able to spread themselves too thin. Kelethin has a whole bunch of orcs with their dark elf leadership sitting right in their backyard that they have their hands full, which by the way, makes Fewlithe a relatively good neighbor by comparison. And Qeynos has all manner of gnolls waiting just past their doorstep, as well as the Bloodsabres scheming from below them, and let's not forget that Lucan doesn't like them much either. All these groups are just waiting for a tactical advantage...something like shipping a whole contingent of their military to another continent.

We already know from the little bit of lore given to us that the Iksar and the Sarnak as well as other parties are in a conflict. I do think that we will see some of the previous Iksar cities but as you suggest they will be dungeons. Why should the Iksar in Kunark be friendly to Iksar that live in Freeport? They will probably be viewed as traitors to their race since they live under the control of Lucan D'Lere.

Qeynos isn't the United States. They can't send soldiers and troops to every little area that needs a rock overturned. They can't aid Rivervale, and why the heck would they try to overthrow a city of THOUSANDS of Elves who unanimously decided they would turn thier backs on all outsiders long before Mistmoore came and seduced thier queen?

The Renda'Dal dont need saving. They chose to evolve themselves into what they are and KOS all outside races. They dont want to go back to the way things were. They dont need help, even if we think they do.
