View Full Version : Where are the Adventure Packs?

I really enjoy the Adveture Packs (Gave us something to do while waiting for the next Expansion). When Splitpaw came out we were told there would be a new one every 6 months to offset the idle time. Is this no longer the plan?

Would love to see one released in between now and RoK. Perhaps Guk

But it looks like SOE has little interest in these Adventure Packs now.

They are releasing a FREE Adventure pack in two weeks called the Return of Neriak. New race + new starting city + new 1-20 content.

Yes, I believe the adventure pack philosophy was stated to be no more. The devs have indicated the concept now is free content updates in between large expansions approximately annually. So enjoy Neriak and Darklight, and enjoy it for free!

Officially, after Echoes of Faydwer was released, Scott Hartsman said in the proceeding Producer's Letter that the development team would be focusing on larger free content updates in place of the pay-to-play Adventure Packs. You'll see the first example of this at the end of this month when Neriak and Darklight Woods are released with the Arasai race. And for the record - it's huge. Darklight itself would be a full Adventure Pack on the scale of the Fallen Dynasty - but Neriak is staggering on top of that. If you haven't created a Test account yet, I highly recommend doing so. There is a thread in the Test server forum that explains very nicely how to set it up. You'll be able to see Neriak and Darklight, as well as test out all of the changes for every live update well before it goes live and provide feedback for them. And - if you're an alt-oholic like me, the Test server is a great way to try out race / class combinations - you get 6 extra slots to use on the Test server, and you can change character appearances as much as you like, as well.

I think it started to come down to what they wanted to do Vs what they could do,

First theirs Publicity fatigue, they have:

EQ1 EQ2 G&H MO PS SWG and V:SoH (Did I miss one????) Seriously haveing to keep all of thoes in the news with rotating product pitches gets hard to do when your trying to focuse the spotlight on any one given product, they literaly almost have to focus on one a month as it is which means that they can only focus in on any one product every 7 months.

then theirs the tug of war between the ever waring MMO monsters known as GeterDone Vs Getitright. I think converting the "Adv packs" to "free exansions" means they can be more flexible with staffing between the "free update" team and the "Big Expansion" teams, if the Big Expansion team needs more muscle they can raid the free team for the bodys they need, and because the free expansions are, well, free, you dont have to worry as mutch about thoes.
