Neriak looks fantastic, the feel of it is right and if made to "look evil" the arasai aren't too bad. It's obvious they're a low cost alternative to the Fae for freeport - but for free content, who can complain.

My gripe here is with the guards. Standing at the entrance to Neriak is 2 L55 Heroic guards. Zone into Neriak and NOTHING is less than L75 Epic x2 guards all on mounts. It looks great and it feels safe - just like a town should be.

But isn't it about time there was a guard balance between Qeynos/Kelethin and Freeport/Neriak? I mean for a long time now, Qeynosians have had to put up with the crossroads in commonlands (no equivalent in antonica), now we have to watch out for L45 epic groups of tunnelers roaming around CL too. But Neriak vs Kelethin guards just takes the p*ss. Kelethin's lift guards are grey to a L20. In town isn't much better, in fact I believe the highest NPC in GFaydark is a L65 guard near the royal courts.

So what gives? Already Kelethin residents must wait for a lift, ride slowly up - in other words, in PVP there literally is nowhere to run. Yet in Neriak there's a nice zoneline protected by guards WAY higher than the zone's PVP level, and the city is filled with guards who can one hit most L70's.

Either buff up the Kelethin guards a bit, or tone down the ridiculously overpowered Neriak ones. Other than that, looks like great content.

I will agree that the Kelethin Guards need buffing. They are truely pathedic. (BTW the Highest Kelethin Guards are in their 70s if you manage to enter the Queen's Chamber) Maybe the convience of having a city in Faydwer is suppose to be reason enough for low guards? That and the NPC that sells all the languages...even Neriak doesn't have a scribe (that I have found) who sells all the languages! Not fair! They can undertsand us but we can't understand them?!

Qeynos and Freeport wise...they are strong enough. Evils have it hard enough as it is. Sneaking into Qeynos is rough as it is. With those epic guards wandering about. I can just imagine how Exiles feel...

Freeport...well considering it's suppose to be a military power that focuses on brute force and inmoral tactics. I think it makes sense for the guards to be as high as they are also. Even with them that high I got ganked all the time in Freeport mainly cause the FP streets are so empty and wide. *shrugs* Unlike Qeynos' humuculi guard who see through buildings...and phase through em too. *dammit!* Like FP I think it makes sense Neriak's Guards are very strong...they have been locked away for years and it is the Bastion of Evil...a relic city. Considering how often I see Goodies waltzing around in FP killing people I think it's about time we had a safe city. (Maybe I just had bad luck?)

Qeynos has an epic guarding their bell while Freeport has nada at their bell. Guard locations in Antoncia off the top of my head: North Qeynos gate: 3 guards South Qeynos gate: 2 guards Bell by the lighthouse: 1 epic guard Claymore monument: 2 guards South Gaurd tower: 2 guards North Gaurd tower: 2 guards Tavern & Mender: 1 guard Tower overlooking the Ardent needle: 1 guard Keep of the Ardent Needle: 2 guards Oracle Tower: 2 guards North Brigde crossing: 1 guards Sourth Bridge crossing: 2 guards Gnollslayer Keep: 2 guards Total of 25 guards in Antoncia which is a contested PvP zone mind you. To have a Q come and complain about the guards in Commonlands and Darkwood is beyond ridiculous.

This is just one exsample of why PvP won't ever be balanced in the "safe" areas because the Cities are designed based on the PvE lore and as such will not... and I think should not... make lore consetions to make PvP balanced. You need to remember that this is a PvE game that has PvP servers, as such there will be times and places that make it difficult to get balanced PvPing because the PvE lore is more importaint. Neriak is just another exsample of this. As is the guards at the crossroads and the guards at the verious Importaint Structures of Antonica. The Trick is to work with and around these problems.

Its a pretty simple solution. Just remove/beef up some of the guards on pvp servers. I forgot where i read it, but i know there was one post from a dev responding to someone saying that EQ2 was a PvE game with PvP servers, where he said something along the lines of "EQ2 was always about PvP, we just took our time getting it live" I agree, they should not bork up the Lore on all PvE servers for the sake of 3 PvP servers, but a few minor steps taken to edit content on PvP servers while leaving PvE alone isn't going to take much effort.

At lvl70 they have always been grey as grey can be to me.

Something else to consider are the questlines available in Kelethin versus any quests in Neriak. A Heritage quest and the Sword of Destiny quest both require that you travel through Kelethin to get the necessary updates. Having lvl75^^^ guards all over the place might make it a little bit difficult to get around for those updates.
