View Full Version : One thing that SoE needs to concentrate on before ROK is released is PROMOTING!

IMO EQ2 can seriously come back into the MMO industry as a huge player. Since ROK will come with all the expansions and the core game, then there is no doubt that EQ2 can be considered as one of the best. The only way to make it one of best is to promote, SoE.

I have two friends (WoW players) that just played the trial of EQ2 and LOVED it. They seriously didn't think EQ2 was that great and never played it and they are now planning to buy the EoF bundle.

This is what EQ2 needs to do in order make themselves notable.

1. Promote the game like crazy at game retailers, important gaming websites (1UP, IGN, and gamespot), and possibly TV adds, and the theater.

2. One of the things that WoW did for promotion is make CGI scenes. In EQ2 I haven't seen one CGI scene since the previews of EQ2 and that was in early 04 right? IMO Kunark, DoF, shattered lands, and EoF would really look nice in a CGI advertisement such as in the theaters, in a commercial or what not.

We've already discussed this in another thread.

Yes we have discussed this before but i feel it always needs more attention. EQ2 has by far the most content, depth, playability, and it caters to all playstyles on an in-depth level. Fire, or maybe even kill, the current "Head of Marketing" for EQ2 and hire someone who could make this games true glory known to the whole world.

/agreed

Especially on the world market.

I live in a small country town in Australia. Population about 6000.

Players I could list that play WoW = 50+

Players I could list that play EQ2 = 3

looking at that Blizzard's impact on the market is 16.7 times greater than SOE's

Agreed, if SoE would just market this game that has evolved in something so bloody good then they'd see a much larger player base.

not too big though This would be the perfect time to market it though. EVERYONE (almost) LOVED KUNARK |+

I totally agree. In my country Denmark wich is in Europe i have never ever seen anything about eq1 or 2. Anoyed me greatly when some idiot from work started arguing that wow was the first mmo ever made. Simply need to put some fundings into this and get it done with.

I'm fairly certain that word will spread on its own. I imagine they would do some advertising as well... but, from what I have seen, news of RoK has been spreading like wildfire. Gamers know gamers and gamers talk.

and Kunark was one of the favorite expansions to Everquest.

IMO the game really needs the attention and promotion. Not many people who play WoW (probably only know 1/32) know about Eq2 itself.

It will help the community and SoE so much if we got 2x more subscribers.
