Just reading up on this since i've been away from the game for a bit. I'm excited to see Kunark come back. I loved it back in EQ1 and i dont see how it couldnt visually impress me yet again. However, looking at the features included in the upcoming x-pac, it's... well... nothing new. More content. More quests. More epics. More mounts. More gods. More of exactly the same wrapped up in a new box. Are there any NEW concepts coming along with this expansion?

Glad to see Kunark, but i expect a bit more than just content from an x-pac. Maybe it's just me. I think my standards are way too high lately.

I think theres a new map system and a new race... and a new starting city anddddddddd some fixes to the other AAs like people have been asking for... so I guess theycannot please everyone. I am very pleased however, because this is an actual neutral city! Thats a first for starting cities... So it is now lined up: Neriak and Freeport ???? and Gorowin Qeynos and Kelethin could leave erudin open for being neutral

Um... so what are you wanting in an expantion? A new contenant from accros the globe no one has ever seen before, 6 new classes. (2 good 2 evil 2 neutral). A drunk rat and fae going at each other? When i hear the word expantion it makes me think more to the world move things to do more quest, monsters, more parts of the world to explore and new options. That's EXATLY what ROK is more everything. The only thing that dissapoints me about ROK as an Iksar Player Since eq1 i was hopeing to live in my homeland amonst my scaley Kin. Other wise this looks to be the best explantion yet.

When I heard the rumor that Kunark would be the next expansion, I left WoW to come back to EQ2. I've been away from EQ2 for a while, but this was one of the things I have really been waiting for. I just pray to the powers that be to not drop the ball on this expansion. A lot of people are looking forward to it, and I am sure they expect the same impact Ruins of Kunark had on EQ Live. Kunark, in EQ Live, was one of my favorite expansions to play in. I spent countless hours in City of Mist and Old Seb. It brings back a lot of positive feelings back that I had playing EQ Live with my Shaman, Rogue, and Monk. I am very excited about all the information I have read so far about the new expansion. I cannot comment on the level cap, only lvl 53 - made it last night , or raiding since I haven't raided in EQ2 since May of 2005.

According to the Devs the zones in Kunark are going to be bigger, and more expancive then that. Just stand on the cliff side overlooking the Butcher Block Docks to see what I mean about visually Impressive... so if they can do that with Faydwar Imagine what they are going to do with Kunark.

However, looking at the features included in the upcoming x-pac, it's... well... nothing new. I don't think wall climbing was talked about in DoF until after Closed BETA started for it...but I am not shure... besides they are Brining back the Epic quests(each class gets its own epic weopon), wich while it is not new to Norath it is deffinatly new to EQ2, and wich will take alot of dev time to make challanging(Unless you want to camp a Mob for 3 weeks to get your epic). And the biggest land mass addtion yet. Plus a lvl cap raise. That is alot of stuff for 1 expaintion,

Are there any NEW concepts coming along with this expansion?

If there are they probly won't tell us until closer to Fan Fair(see reason above)

Glad to see Kunark, but i expect a bit more than just content from an x-pac. Is it because of the increasing quality of each new expaintion to this game. If it is then look on the optomistic side and think of how much this expaintion will improve on the lessons learned form EoF. Besides this is just the teaser anouncment there will be more info comming later...Plus from what I understand from Scott's Interview they Hope to make the Sarnak Neutral as well as thier starter city(meaning only Neutral Races start there) if thats the case it opens up the possablities of expanding the Faction system and MAYBE(I hope) making it accually meaningful outside of writs.

To tha vast majority of people who have played EQ1 the 2 expansions that people bring up as being the best from EQ live (EQ1) is Kunark and Plane of power. Personally Kunark > all. OMG I WANT TO GO BACK THERE SOOOO BADLY NOW..... The ONLY other expansion other than kunark that would bring such a smile to my face is Odus. And there has been NPC's that mention it already (namely the quest involving the vault in barren sky) SO i hope that Odus is the expansion after Kunark. With those 2 i do believe that SOE will be enjoying my money for years and years to come. KUNARK FTW.

Seems like most x-pacs have some kind of new mechanics like augs, guildhalls, player cities, AA systems, etc etc. Just some kind of NEW mechanic to push the game to the next level. I agree that more content is good and all, but personally i feel that new content can only take a game so far. If it's the same basic concepts over and over again with simply new stories/quests/zones, it becomes repetitive IMHO. When expanding a game, MMOs in particular, you have to stay inventive and fresh to compete. It's just how i feel.

I know i'm being a downer... i just seem to expect more these days. Not like i wont buy/play it when it releases.

I said M - I - S - T. I never mentioned Cabalis in my post. -- I would say Kunark and Velious were the expansions that most people enjoyed. Luclin changed how people sold their wares. No more venturing to the Commonlands spamming what they had to sell. Also, the introduction of AAs. Planes of Power segmented the population massively because of all the requirements to get into zones. It took them a while to remove these restrictions which helped even out players advancement.
