View Full Version : Feedback - Darklight Wood - Quests

I'm hitting as many threads as I can, but because I'm also a very lazy guy I'm starting this thread to serve as a central "feedback"/"bug report"/"suggestion" location for all quests in the Darklight Wood. So please use this thread for that Thanks, in advance, for all the feedback! FIXES - May 16 (coming soon) ========================= -It should now be easier to interact with NPCs and objects in the wanderlust fair (the fireworks were causing issues, and as such have been placed higher in the sky). -The quest "Funnelweb Study" should no longer update as if you killed a spider when looting corpse items from spiders. -You should now be able to re-accept the quest "Finding the Dark Bargainers" if you declined it or deleted it. However, if you already have (or have completed) the quest "Big Business" then you will not be able to get the quest "Finding the Dark Bargainers." -Tier 2 harvests in Darklight Wood should no longer be harvestable at any level. -Dying after leashing a cub while on the quest "Tender Flesh" should no longer 'invalidate' that bear cub. -It should now be possible to re-accept "The Final Ingredient" immediately after deleting it if you had already leashed a kodiak. -References to good classes in the trainer dialog in Darklight Wood has been replaced with their evil counterparts. -While on the quest "More Luxuries," killing a scar wurm that is flying over Innoruuk's Scar will now properly give quest credit. ========================= All of the below fixes should now be on test. Please note that if you still see the gate entrance to Commonlands or the door on the fortifications entrance to Nektulos, you might be running on old art. I have no idea why this might be, but I believe darklight and neriak may now be optional downloads, so if you find yourself unable to zone to nektulos or commonlands, please check your optional downloads and see if you can get the neriak and darklight_wood vpks to re-download. FIXES - May 10 (coming soon to a test server near you) ========================= -Nightly Fireworks can now be seen at the Wanderlust Fair! -It should no longer be possible to "reap" multiple spirits while on "Reaping." It is, however, still possible for multiple people to reap the same spirit. -A carpet has been added to the Wanderlust Fair that will take players to Sinking Sands. -Neriak citizens can take the dock carpet in Sinking Sands back to Darklight Wood. -Zone connections in and out of Darklight Wood (Neriak, Nektulos and Commonlands) are now handled by walking into trigger volumes instead of clicking gates/doors/castles. -Gulgar the Usurper should no longer be "invisible" when Line of Sight is considered for spell attacks. -More POI locations in Darklight Wood give discovery experience. FIXES - May 09 (still no idea when this is going to test) ========================= -The zone for "Finding the Dark Bargainers" should now correctly be set as Neriak, not Darklight Wood -"a ferocious wolf," "Alerica the Flamecaller," and "Gulgar the Usurper" should no longer be charmable -Laexyra should no longer offer the now-useless trinkets to the player while they are on "Reaping." FIXES - May 08 (again, it is *unknown* when these fixes will hit test server) ========================= -Speculative fix for Ithari not always dropping her head. -You should now be able to complete "Malkaen Weed" if you had previously completed "The Pristine Wolf Pelt" and then accepted "Dirzdia's Order." -The eggs for "Funnelweb Study" should now remain usable even after you complete the killing portion of this quest. -The "Starting a Profession" book in Freeport should now only be available to Freeport citizens, and should only give the Freeport version of the quest. -The "Starting a Profession" book in Qeynos should now only be available to Qeynos citizens, and should only give the Qeynos version of the quest. -There is now an NPC in the Neriak Down Under (Szinjss X'Vemtor) who offers the low level tradeskill quests. -The quest rewards for "The Mother Lode" have had their stats/levels adjusted to better match the level of the quest. FIXES - May 07 (it is *unknown* when these fixes will hit test server, sorry!) ========================= -the tradeskill note players start with now correctly references Neriak citizenship -Ithari no longer counts as an elemental for the quest "Reclaiming the Sablevein Tear" -Harnen Taptha now has an "updates quest" icon above his head -The recruit insignia that starts "A Guard Insignia?" will no longer drop until you have completed the first portion of "Picking Up Slack" -You can now re-accept "The Missing Recruit" if you fail to accept it the first time, or if you delete it -The missing recruit should now be visible, which is to say the cave in which he is hiding should now actually be in the zone -Smolderfin should no longer immediately break when engaged (sadly this also nerfs our beloved aqua-mounts) -Ilmtar will no longer offer another "Pheromone Spray" if you are returning to him to complete "The Mother Lode"

What about the bear caves? Is there a way to access them yet?

Ithari is not always dropping her "head" to update the quest (don't remember quest name, it's the one you get from the wanted poster). It's a body drop, but we had to kill her four or five times to get the update for my husband.

darklight woods -my wife (bruiser) could not complete the quest with "milkweed" (the plant gathered outside the elemental cave- level 2ish quest.) No final dialog with quest giver. i completed it the day before. (I was both grouped with her and mentoring when she both obtained and executed the steps of the quest. Eliminating those conditions had no effect after on allowing her to complete the quest.) -no bear caves for the missing guide quest. -the shark Smolderfin does that break-off-and-hug-the-bottom thing like the Large Valetale Trout did/does in the EL. impossible to take the thing out. neriak -Big Business- Unless you talk to the candle maker by the palace first, she will not offer you the dialog to progress the quest. The quest text itself offers no indication that she should be first on the list, and the order doesn't matter on the other NPCs on the list. -the quest with the ghost seeking revenge on the slave that kills him seems broken. Have tried both dialogs offered by the slave and both lead to him aggroing me and subsequently being killed by me. Does not complete or progress the quest. Nor does the ghost recognized that I killed him. Otherwise a very enjoyable starter zone.

just to clarify the above poster, Smolderfin (for a quest i dont remember the name of) immediatly breaks and resets after ya do damage to it, my guess is that it thinks (as in detects it wrong) the character doing damage to isn't in the water.

I really like the amount of quests and the diversity involved in all of them. There's a TON to do before you even see Neriak, and that's great.

The equipment rewards I think need to be looked at, though. You get five hundred pairs of pants (almost literally - one quest segment alone offers 6 leg items), but one chest piece (speaking as a level 12 brawler). I have yet to find a shoulder rewards item, a hands reward item, and the rewards in the weapons department are severely lacking. I think I got one weapon around level 3 or 4, and level 3 or 4 weapons really REALLY start to suck around level 9.

So far the quests seem to be pretty well done except for some of the rewards. I was relying solely on quests for armor upgrades on my baby necro, but was missing several pieces by 10 or so and had a couple of repeats. Other then the bugs previously mentioned, I just ran accross another. In the quest Tipping the Scales from the Shadow Oak you're supposed to kill the giant mole rat that killed the wolves' den mother and then feed it's blood to the wolf pups. The problem is when you kill the mole rat the quest updates but it doesn't give you any way of feeding the blood to the pups. EDIT: Ahh disregard that please. I just realized what I was doing wrong. You have to find the young pups in one of the holes, not the ones roaming around.

A Super Secret, Evil, Dark Plan -- quest in Neriak. The urn needs to repop much faster. I've been waiting over 5 minutes since my husband got it, and it still hasn't respawned. Edit: same quest, killing Tsabrar De'Kenmtor either needs to update group, or respawn faster. It's over a 5 minute respawn as well.

I noticed a few things that's starting to annoy me.

While doing the teleporter quest, I kept falling off the bridges and ramps, because it was very hard to see in Nerik I had my overall Gamma turned to maxed to see, but it didn't help. You don't see you're too close to edge, until you're back at the begining, and seen you died

Some of the Mobs you're sent to attack are not taking damage initially, then they sudden hit you twice as hard, and you die. It's not lag. IE; the mother lode quest, I call the mother wrum, go stealth, wait for her, then use my highest stab, and nada. She still has full health. I use all of my combat arts, with the most hit damage, and she still not taking much damage. This mob is not an elite.

This has happened too many times with other type creatures too. I filed bug reports. It maybe fine to most, but it isn't for me.

It would be nice to let us choose, to make our Arasai unique, like we can with the Fae.

Also, the hair styles was the same for Fae, for my little Arasai. I've done most of the new quests, and they all were bug-free for me except the tradeskill Learning A Profession. I've done this series many times with Qeynos/Freeport toons, but I can't get beyond the first artisan book in Neriak. I've given up and leveled up my provisioner to level 16. Very fine job on these new zones.

Ok, I didn't play in test, but now it's gone live and I can't figure out how to get the clockwork owlbear to do anything for the quest 'Retrieving Owlbear Eggs'. However, someone new may not know. There should be a quest NPC just inside the CL zone (from DarkLight) that gives you something to deliver to one of the NPCs in the crossroads, which would give you some directions to get there, and a reason to go (and at the crossroads, you get a ton of quests for CL and the surrounding areas.)

Ah mentored mah Teir`Dassin down to lvl4 to do all the quests in DLW (and work on her Transmuting on the way) and had no troubles at all with that quest, the DESK who kindly let me mentor them also had no troubles either (this was yesterday btw)

on the Oasis server I was able to complete it with a couple of characters that i had grouped on the 29th of May but I have not had much luck since then. I was wondering if the problems were tied to a group vs. solo or if you had the baby snake quest at the same time as the Luxury quest. I will try again as I want to complete this chain for my characters.
