View Full Version : Rise of Kunark Heritage Quest Wish List

Let's begin the traditional HQ wish-list for the new expansion. 1) Copper Hammer of Striking 2) Fungus Scaled Tunic 3) Mana Robe 4) Circlet of Shadow 5) Kunark-era Class-specific Armor Sets (Blood Ember, Cobalt, Donal's XXX of Mourning, Singing Steel, Myrlokar's, Deepwater, Jaundiced Bone, Elder Spiritist's, and Tolan's Darkwood)...prehaps a HQ quest line general to all classes that rewards one piece of Kunark armor per quest? 6) THE EPICS!!! Swiftwind/Earthcaller for Rangers and Assassins (Rangers in EQ) Innoruuk's Curse for Shadowknights Fiery Defender of Paladins Staff of the Serpent for Coercers and Illusionists (Enchanters in EQ) Orb of Mastery for Conjurers (Magicians in EQ) Scythe of the Shadowed Soul for Necromancers Singing Short Sword for Troubadors and Dirges (Bards in EQ) Blade of Tactics [AND] Blade of Strategy [OR] Jagged Blade of War for Guardians (Warriors in EQ) Celestial Fists for Bruisers and Monks (Monks in EQ) Ragebringer for Brigands and Swashbucklers (Rogues in EQ) Staff of the Four for Wizards and Warlocks (Wizards in EQ) Spear of Fate for Mystics and Defilers (Shamans in EQ) Nature Walker's Scimitar for Furies and Wardens (Druids in EQ) Water Sprinkler of Nem Ankh for Inquisitors and Templars (Clerics in EQ) Kerasian Axe of Ire for Berserkers (technically it's from GoD. But it's still the Berserker Epic 1.0...so I could either list this or lump Berserkers in with Guardians for the lightsabers).

1.) Lamentation 2.) Fungus Covered Scale Tunic 3.) Iksar Ceremonial Chestplate 4.) I agree with Cusahorn on the monk items...I seem to remember enjoying the Cane of the Tranquil...Don't remember the Tranquil staff, but at least one of those would be a nice addition. 5.) Mana Robe 6.) Runebranded Girdle The list will just keep going on with me...Kunark had way too much cool stuff. I do like the idea of the armor, and I had been working around an idea of "heritage" armor quests that one could do maybe around 30 or 40. I loved the original armor quests and was sad that we didn't see more of them. I basically thought that around 30 one could quest for the "old world" heritage armor (Crafted, Ivy etched, darkforge, etc.) then around 50 quest for your Kunark heritage armor (Cobalt, Tolan's Darkwood, Mrylokar's, etc.). Of course theres problems with this. While it works with some classes (Both warrior classes, guardian and berserker could use crafted no problem) other classes, such as crusader, cannot share the same armor between the professions. Also, there were some classes that didn't have old world or kunark armor...I believe this might be necromancer, magician, enchanter, wizard...so they'd have to make up some armor there or give them an equivalent to make up for it (Heritage spells? oooooh...) Furthermore, some of the names of armor have already been used (Cobalt comes to mind). So there we go, I've pretty much ripped apart my own idea, but I think it's cool in theory....I'd love to see more armor quests like EQlive's class specifics, and I love heritage quests, so why not combine the two?

1. Sarnak Battle Shield 2. Spirit Wracked Cords (Deserves to be in but probably won't) 3. Fungus Scaled Tunic (I think it will suck in EQ2 but was one of the most famous items) 4. Forest Loop 5. Greenmist (Should be an epic quest and actually in the game unlike the original RoK.) 6. Necklace of Superiority 7. Knuckle Dusters

Actually i could see the greenmist as being the prismatic for kunark. It would make some sense. There is already the major lore behiend it infolving kunark. And each prismatic has been around wepons. Prismatic 1 Peacock quest (forgot the actual name of the quests... this seemed less around weps tho) Qeynos claymore Sword of destiny . . . Greenmist (it makes logical sense) And a wish list of weps....... to many to count..... not enough time to remember them all. Also there is a fundimental flaw to the idea of bringing back epics. Well at least 1 epic. The paladin epic from EQ1 relied on the fact that you had to obtain the soulfire as one of the holy swords to make your final epic. Well the soulfire is already in this game heh and until recently was in lucans posession.

I never played Everquest I, so I have no idea what you guys are talking about. However, I would like to see maybe class- or race-specific HQs, although race specific would be more likely, as it would be hard to do a heroic instance with a group full of Monks. (Or would it?...) This would be nice just to get a jewelry item for doing a racial HQ or a class-specific item (similar to Diablo II) for the class-specific HQ. Either one would give me much more reason to do them, seeing as how there aren't very many that are worth doing because the item you get from most of them are [Removed for Content] or not for you. I mean, honestly, has anyone ever used the Halberd from the Nek Forest HQ? Don't get me wrong, there are plenty worth doing, but on the whole they are not very satisfying.

Back in the day seeing a Warrior with a pair of Lamentations was impressive. The Sarnak Battleshield was a badge of honor to those that got one. The Fungi Tunic was THE monk BP to get and people payed a lot of to get one.

I swear they better use the original graphics for sk epic weapons. The epic sk weapon in EQ was HANDS DOWN the best looking epic there was. I mean I don't want the exact same model, but I want something alot like it. Ive been trying to find a pic of it online but I can't. I might have to log onto my sk on EQ and SS it. P.S it would be [Removed for Content] to get Circlet of Shadow Heritage, but that would be a way too powerful item Insat click invis FTW!

Ok. So the developers did not add any HQ's to the last expansion. And so far, I have not seen any forum hint of HQ's coming for the next one.

What gives? I did not play EQ1 so i don't know what the original intent might have been for some of the rewards

For me HQ's represent the accomplishments that each player character should work through to:

serve his/her leveling goals

become equipped with items that represent some accomplishment

earn status for self/guild

encourage group activity within guild for common effort

That said, current HQ's no longer match Kunark content, so in many cases the equipment is no longer all that valuable for the effort required to get it. An example is the Staf of the Observer. By the time you can get and use that staff, you can get a MasterCrafted staff that is better. And camping the required kills is pathetic. Oh yeah, you have to get a drop to even start the quest and it can't be shared, so everyone has to get that drop before you can embark on the quest.

A couple of the HQ's require RAID content updates and that is just bizzare to me. How can any guild hope to encourage that kind of a campaign with a limited number of members, most of which aren't going to be on at the same time to run together for the length of some of these HQ's. And oh yeah, they can't all get some of the updates at the same time either. So some effort has to be duplicated or camped.

I know that HQ's can be done with pickup groups and pickup raids but it doesn't seem logical to have that expectation only to then get status that has no real value and a reward item that has no value to weild. Today you can get more status for less effort by killing a boss in an EoF instance and the equipment in there is better than anything you can get from an HQ.

If the player is at a level to really take advantage of the item, he needs a well equipped group of the same level to assist. If the group is part of his guild they are going to be able to do heroic content but they will all have to be prepared with necessary prerequisites first (i.e. harvest skills, languages, etc).

But what about raid content? If they are big enough and bad enough to do raid content as a guild, what the heck do they need the reward for? The item reward will be a joke compared to drops in the raid zone. Status? All members of my guild could do all HQ's and still not get us from 54 (current level) to 80. What is the motivation to even do HQ's today? The status and items are no longer balanced with the game of today.

There was some effort put into making the quests easier (nerfed) recently.

I saw that Cauldron Hollow was turned into a Heroic zone. This means you can do Restoring Ghoulbane with a group now, but the Ghoulbane item still sucks and no one cares to do it because you have to do Dusty Blue Stone first, and that requires you to run all over hell, back and forth before you can get to the HQ and then if you are evil, you have to risk your neck in Qeynos to run back and forth, using the sewers to travel.

The Bouncers are up all the time now, so you don't have to run all over Feerrott to kill PH's all day while competing with others, but the reward is a joke in todays standards, and the spiders in that zone are more of a challenge than the quest is now, so there is no real feeling of accomplshment.

Don't get me wrong, I love the HQ's and I continue to complete them for all my alts, whenever possible. But I don't look at them today as a must, but rather a checkmark in a list of things to get done as my character develops.

I hope that we see at least 7 more HQ's added with the next expansion. Although, I think we should have already have seen at least that many introduced with Kunark. I don't want to see the current quests made easier, I want them to mean something again.

Give more status for the same effort it used to take.Give better stats on the item rewards or make them autolevel with the player for about 10 levels. If they have raid content updates required, put in additional items to reward for people that can't use the item currently rewarded. If the quest starter is a drop, make it more common or trade-able (again). Many used to be tradeable, but SOE made that go away and then nerfed the rewards and possibility of getting help by introducing Kunark.

Make the accomplishment match the effort or get rid of the status/item reward at the end and make the steps reward along the way. The Light Stones quest WAS a good example of a Heritage Quest that created benefit for everyone who endeavored to work on it. Today it is pretty much nerfed to the point of boredom. The rewards from it are not even on par with trash mob drops in Timerous.

Well there is my rant...sorry I went so long, but seemed like the appropriate place to make comment.
