I'm curious to know if Sony plans to impliment flying mounts in any upcoming expansions. They're all the rage right now, a lot of new games have them and a lot of players enjoy them. So I'm just curious to know if they'll be around. I for one think they're neat, but WoW sucks and that would be really the only reason I'd level to 70 in WoW : ).

The game isnt built to handle flying mounts...while flying all you would see in empty space lol...unless your in Ant,CL,TS,or Nek...since griffons fly you in those zones. But yeah...i dont think EQ2 will join the flying mount club.

on the subscription cancel survey there is a question that asks if you would consider resubscribing if they implemented flying mounts. possible.

If they did add Flying mounts, I imagine they'd be nothing more than Carpets and Hover Platforms. They just hover a few inches off the ground, but you still have no Z-Axis flight control.

What I find interesting is that the fae can get to places that usually can't be accessed along with being able to jump really high and far. I have a fae and when I jump off of really tall things, I never have issues with world rendering.

Common practice within the game industry to not have any polygons where the player just wont normal be able to see it. Take a chest in a dungeon for example in any fantasy type game. The bottom of it is more them likely missing in all games. Why? B/c the player will never see it so why waste the processing power to have it rendered. saves on load times, and rendering times. Thats why when u go into area in eq2 where any normal player can't go you see lots of stuff missing. Especially in QH...help help reduce lag and rendering times.

I think flying mounts would not work, because yo uwould be flying along and SPLAT you hit a zone wall. It would be cool if you could fly all the way up to KOS though.

KoS could be a good zone for flyin mounts, its not like the old world zones if u get somewhere u shouldnt u see patches of nothin that u will just fall through the world, but in KoS with Parachutes/Faes Glide/Stilts u dont get that ever. I would be happy with if the flyin mounts would only work in new exspansions if at all.

I am all for them! Bring them on!

I'm all for flying mounts, when the devs have the time, resources, and capability to make all the overland zones compatible with flight. I say wait until you have the opportunity to do it right.

I would personally love to flying mounts, but we're not gonna get 'em. I think the closest thing we could get would be something like a pocket-griffon.

Flying mounts in EQ2 is IMO a waste of a developer's time. There is so much other stuff I would rather have dev time spent on than flying mounts. Just another check mark to compare with WoW.

If eq2 was a seemless world like WoW then maybe I can see flying mounts, but really most eq2 zones are pretty small and flying mounts would be like jets in a football stadium, launch, fly for 20 secs, zone, etc. In addition most large zones like Ant, TS, Nek, CL, LP have fast transportation to move you across and they have even added the catapult in Zek to get you to Deathfist instantly. I rarely find myself running in a zone for more than 3-4 mins.

I imagine if they did introduce them it would have to be in new zones only ala WoW's expansion and unsuable in exisiting content also like WoW - just too many rendering and pathing issues - so can you fly over deathfist, Nek castle and just drop down into the dungeon? Right now I imagine that even if there was away you can't even move over the DFC airspace.

At the end of the day Flying mounts would just be a marketing gimmick with no real world utility once the inital "wehee I'm flying" thrill wore off.

And for god sakes quit copying every aspect of WoW!! Man if people love those aspects so much then they are probably already playing WoW and not likely to leave it for an exact copy with better graphics.

personally i think that flying mounts should be introduced with the release of Rise of Kunark and should only be made usable on Kunark. This would be awesome because SOE has already said that ROK will be a massive expansion and with flying mounts i can see ROK being a much better expansion than EOF.

Flying personal mounts are limited to the new (Outland) zones in WoW because it would require major work to retrofit the original zones to accomodate them -- just like it would in EQ2. If they ever do add flying personal mounts to EQ2 I expect SOE to limit their use to new zones designed to support them.

Thats not my point. I just dont want this game to be anything like WoW anymore.

To implement the flying thingys in EQ2 is...

make Kunark-sized KoS-ish regions connected with mainland(common overland areas) or a continent so that you don't have to zone between these areas.

( Am I dreaming too much,,hm,,, ? )
