I’ve looked around some and had a hard time finding general info on the expansion. There wasn’t even a sufficient instruction or lore book in the case. I have a few questions, If I start in Qeynos and my friend starts in Kelethin(sp?) can we easily meet up? I’ve seen some conflicting posts about this- some people talking about betraying and whatnot and I’m a little confused. My next question- is it worthwhile to even adventure in Anotnica? Or should I just head to Faydwer- I’m lvl 10 right now. The reason I ask is normally expansion content is better designed and gives better rewards. I’m sure I’ll have more- you’ll have to forgive the noob posts because, well- I’m a noob. Well semi noob, I’m one of those people that jumped ship early on (Feb of 05 to be exact) because all of my old EQ1 buddies went to WoW. So I’m still processing 2 years of expansions and changes. Thanks -Carn

The former is easier.

2nd Question: regardless of the material rewards, it's worthwhile to do any and all quests after level 10 because you'll gain achievement XP from completing quests that are still blue, white, yellow, orange, or red, and from killing named mobs and collecting treasured corpse loot. For this reason alone, it's worth exploring around Antonica and such to level up as well as in Faydwer.

Brand new (new to the game) hooking up will be a little tough if you don't know the way through Butcherblock to get to the docks from Greater Faydark. If you are familiar with the route though, it's quite possible to run through Butcherblock at level 1 if you stay aware of what's around you. My next question- is it worthwhile to even adventure in Anotnica? You'll gain Achievement Experience for most every quest you complete in Antonica, and for all of them past the initial Kelethin quests (That are designed < level 10) Once you can do the quests starting at the Spires camp near Steamfont you'll get AP experience for all of them, and then on through the Crushbone Valley stuff. The rewards are a bit better for the Faydwer quests, and GFay has two collection quests that reward very nice items equipable at level 20 that lasted my Fae until she completed higher level collections in Butcherblock. I’m sure I’ll have more- you’ll have to forgive the noob posts because, well- I’m a noob. Well semi noob, I’m one of those people that jumped ship early on (Feb of 05 to be exact) because all of my old EQ1 buddies went to WoW. Thank you for the answers, I can't believe all the changes! What happened to the 200+ run around town quests? I actually enjoyed those. =) Heh- so I opened the bank of my original character and I found gobs of iron bars and eolith temper, but i dont see any recipes to use them in anymore. Are those things worthless now?

Sadly, those 200+ newbie city quests went the way of the dodo.

Crafting was revamped some time ago. If you recall, many recipes required subcombines...eolith tempers and iron bars were products of those subcombines. The only recipes I can think of off the top of my head (since I have a Sage) have to do with making the inks, then the quills, then the paper, before you could finally make a spell.

All those interim steps have been eliminated, so now all that is needed are the harvestables and fuels (you'd have to look at your recipe books for specifics).

They did add some more low Tier 2 stuff and have revamped a lot of those zones to keep them fresh though. I really miss all the fun stories that were lost, but it doesn't really impact level progression.

I believe you can still substitute all your old subs sitting in the bank for raws in the new system, so don't just destroy them.
