View Full Version : Do "naked" accounts earn Achievement exp in the background?

Silly question time. I've got an account with no expansions on it. If I buy & register the expansions, will I have the achievement xp for discovery locations I've already done, or will I have to do them all again? Or am I permanently screwed out of that AA xp for the horrible, horrible crime not purchasing the expansions immediately? Same question for Named enemies killed, and quests completed.

You have to go earn them. If you max out your achievements, nothing you do further will count. No named mobs, no items looted, no discovery locations, no quests completed (especially no quests completed) will count. You will have to kill them, loot them, discover them, and complete them the next time they expand the achievements.

I'm sure that's all very helpful information to someone who has hit the AA point cap, but it doesn't answer my questions.

No, AA experience is not retroactive. If you discover "place A" prior to buying KoS, you cannot rediscover "place A" for exp. Same for all other methods of gaining AA's.

However, it did not. And it was not to be assumed either, because if you had KoS when EoF came out, you could get more than 50 AA points even if you hadn't purchased EoF yet; though obviously you could not spend them. A similar situation could have existed with not owning the KoS expansion, but it would not be observable until you purchased the expansion. So no, your posts did not answer my questions.

If you dont have any expansions then as I understand it you cannot get Acheivement XP, you will get Adventure XP when you discover a new location.

If you then buy DoF, when you are running around you will discover the area again and get Acheivement XP. I recently discovered areas in Zek that I had been too before but not since DoF can out.

My understanding is that you only discover locations once, and only complete non-repeatable quests once. For killing named and looting items (the status loot, and looted "something" treasures) you can go back and mentor down or loot those things again after you buy the relevant expansion. To be absolutely sure, you'd have to try it out though, because I've always bought the expansions right around when they came out. And, Welcome back to EQ2! (I think you're back?) Since you had not visited those locations since DoF was released, these were new discoveries for you.

For someone like the OP, the first time you discover a location you get adventure exp for it, but you will not get AA exp if you do not have DoF or EoF registered. Should you then install DoF or EoF and revisit those locations, you will not get the AA exp because you have already used up the discovery.

SOE really wants you to buy the expansions as soon as they are released.

Im totally sure you can get AA experience for locations previously visited. However not all locations seem to ping, only ones that are considered "dangerous" or some wierdness. I know that there are some that do because I bought KoS and EoF together only a couple of months ago, and while I didnt do an organised search I did ping many achievement points from areas I had previously cleared with my main.

There was a description of the rules for this given by the Devs somewhere, a google search should turn it up.

Don't remember where I saw it, but you only get AA exp for discoveries in zones that have mobs that are green or higher to you. Keeps players from just running around all the newbie zones to get AA exp.

No 'invisible' aa exp when no expansions hooked on the account Gotta kill nameds / loot items again to get aa exp If you discovered a place before expansions, you don't get aa exp for traveling there again (From what i saw) - though i may just have not been looking very well.. but i'm almost positive Quests can't be completed again after completing them.. so no way to get aa exp from them, unless you didnt turn them in. can mentor down to turn in grey quests
