View Full Version : Will more deities resurface in future via expansion or otherwise?

Title says it all really... Are more deities going to turn up later on that we can choose to worship? I don't know if the entire, convoluted pantheon EQ1 has would be appropiate, but at least giving us the rest of the founding gods would be nice. Bertoxxulous, Prexus, Veeshan, Karana... just to name a few. These were all a part of the original pantheon of Norrath and I would really like to at least see these founding gods put in. So, pipe dream or is there hope?

I'd like to know the answer "for sure" to this myself.

I've been holding off on picking a deity for my Fury, as she is a follower of Karana and it is not an option yet. For RP reasons, I'm not going to pick another good "just because they are available." But...if there's no hope for seeing Karana ever, I would.

They said they'd start out with the ones we have now. I take that as a hint to new deities.

My paladin is a passionate worshiper of Erollisi, to the extent that her home at 2 Bayle Court, South Qeynos (Lucan D'Lere) has a chapel devoted to Erollisi, with a smaller shrine to Mithaniel providing balance. For the nonce, being a 70 armorer she is also a follower of Brell, but spends a lot of RP time praying and meditating on her patron deity. Bring back Erollisi!

They've already stated that more dieties will be released over time with new expansions.

One place I'm curious about is the Hall of Storms in South Qeynos. (Least I think thats the name.) the sign says closed by order of the queen. If they do put Karana back in the game, will they reopen this Hall? the Hall has a nice fountain out front but the place is basically just window dressing now. Be a good place to setup major quests out of in the future.

The Hall of Thunder used to be the guildhall to clerics and paladins who worshipped Karana. When they moved out to Stormhold, the Queen no longer had any use to keep it open, especially after the Celestial Watch was formed at the Temple of Life.

Since Karana is a neutral god, it wouldn't be fair to force evils to go into south Qeynos just to worship him and do quests.

He is? I don't remember in EQ1 any evil having the option to worship Karana. IIRC he was basically the "other" Druid/Ranger god. And, anyone got an actual quote of them saying they would be adding more? Assuming so from a long previous comment won't do. When they first started making Adv Packs they thought they would keep going with em and now have changed their tune. It would just be nice to know for sure so I can decide whether I should wait on one of my chars or not.

Bertoxxulous, Brell Serilis, Bristlebane, Cazic-Thule, Erollisi Marr, Innoruuk, Karana, Mithaniel Marr, Prexus, Quellious, Rallos Zek, Rodcet Nife, Solusek Ro, and Tunare, should be the only God's in the EverQuest storyline. Their stories "fit" nicely with what the developers have come up with for the game, where all the other deities that were introduced with the Planes of Power expansion, seemed to just have been crammed into the storyline for the sake of just having something there for the players to do. I really don't want to see EverQuest 2 go down that same path.

Here is the complete listing which I found here (I have removed Mayong from the list they have as original dieties because he wasn't one for the entire 4 years I played EQ1 so it must have been a recent development after Planes of Power):
Main deities
Bertoxxulous - The Plaguebringer (pestilence) Brell Serilis - The Duke of the Down Below (earth) Bristlebane - The King of Thieves (mischief) Cazic-Thule - The Faceless (fear) Erollisi Marr - The Queen of Love (love) Innoruuk - The Prince of Hate (hate) Karana - The Rain Keeper (storms) Mithaniel Marr - The Truthbringer (valor) Prexus - The Ocean Lord (oceans) Quellious - The Tranquil (peace) Rallos Zek - The Warlord (war) Rodcet Nife - The Prime Healer (life) Solusek Ro - The Burning Prince (fire) The Tribunal - The Council of Justice (justice) Tunare - The Mother of All (nature) Veeshan - The Mother of All Wurms (dragons)

I bolded the ones we're missing. So 8 more and we'd have the full pantheon. Of note as well, each of the write ups on the TRUE original dieties listed on that page come straight from the EQ lore itself that you see during character creation. Karana is definately NOT listed as a Neutral diety, but a Good one. My guess is, any current standing of neutrality Karana has in EQ1 is a more recent development and not seated in the ORIGINAL diety layout. 6 Good, 6 Neutral, and 4 Evil. It does APPEAR that the devs basically halved the dieties so that they could release half with EoF and half with a furture expansion. I am hoping that that is the case.

He is a good god in personality, but his influence is neutral. Storms are neither good nor evil. They just are. The only reason no evils ever worshiped him in EQlive was because they couldn't be druids.

The Sullon Zek PVP server didn't have Agnostic as a choice, so the Vah Shir were forced to worship Tunare regardless.
