well I will belive that when I see that. Since a Vampire is not a "race" its a monster. An undead human.

Unless its a race that is simlar to a vampire pale skin who feast on blood.

No new info has been anounced or leaked, to my knowledge. Truth be told, Vampires don't seem all that likely. They're pretty much just pale Dark Elves with red eyes; not quite unique enough to to warrant being a new playable race.

Well, someone had quoted one of the devs or whoever somewhere ( I THINK in the various Kunark topics) that the new race would be something already seen in game...though I personally would rather play a Sarnak.

Vampire class: has a life span of about 10 seconds. The moment it spawns in game from the creation screen, it drives a stake in its own heart and gasps before expiring, "God i need a life!" (get it... undead wanting a life. buaahahahhaa *ahem* n-ee-weigh...). The only problem is the permanent pile of dead wanna-bes at the spawn point. Devs still haven't figured out how to get rid the the pile since the death is permanent due to the inability to revive.

on a more serious note: i believe the Loping plains are a little different in regards to day and night... it's always overcast in gloom. I dont think i have ever seen the sun shine there. Take Felwithe for case in point: day time, the Mistmoore agents are no where to be seen (except maybe bugged ones that fail to despawn). Come night, they crawl everywhere slaughtering the inhabitants. (gods i love them for that.)

Well there is two kinds of vampires the religious pespective and cientific-fiction.

The first is that they are undead sun of the devil like many movies. The other verision is that they are meta-humans boodsuckers mutations from a virus transmited by a salive (blade version).

Vampires is a cool race to be playable. They are bigger than High-elves if you ever notice it.

Whatever they choose to be a new race i wish a no-monster race!!

Sorry people it's been done... Not as a true race, but as an infection in the PS2 version of Everquest (Adventures Online)... Where as it was a horriable long and random quest line to get infected by a werewolf, vampire, werebear, or werelion... each adding different sta (ie. Werewolf werewolfs the perfect DPS form adding Str; while werelions added Sta making it a major tank buff) at the middle of the quest line you could choose to become a 'Hunter' which added stats if you didn't want to put up with the hassle of the NPC hunters who roamed around major points of the cites (which in EQII would most likely be the docks and what not), who would pop your form and kill you... It made the game intresting by adding a new way to customize your character... cause who would want a SK with werebear (wis bonus) when you could get one with werelion...

So just to say... it has been done... it could be done... and who says with all this new EoF content added, that it hasn't been done already?? Maybe nobody hasnt been infected yet... Or has and ran accross the right NPC...

but a playable race... no, don't see it... and Illusion/buff... I'm game...

I spent WEEKS and WEEKS finishing the bloodline chronicles (which cannot be soloed at my level, so getting groups was a pain) so I could get my vampire form and run around saying LOOK HOW COOL I AM!!! Would suck if they made it a playable race and took my glory away.....

*delurks*

This came up in the History and Lore forum a few days ago. As part of the Innoruk deity line, you are sent to retrieve a Fae spirit bud from the Fae nursery. I had just finished the deity quest the night before so I copied the dialogue from it:

Xilania Nevagon says to you,"Well, Serenade, are you prepared?" You say to Xilania Nevagon,"I am." Xilania Nevagon says to you,"I have a mission for you. I would like you to travel to the northern section of the Greater Faydark. Through Echo Echo Canyon, to where the Fae spirit buds eventually come to rest. In that enclosed area, there is a grobin cave to the south west. The grobins have tried to use the shrumblers of these caves to assault the Fae nursery." You say to Xilania Nevagon,"Assault the nursery?" Xilania Nevagon says to you,"The shrumblers were--for whatever reason--naturally adept at retrieving the Fae spirit buds. The spirit buds are delicate and wisp like. They flow freely about the Faydark until they are ready to 'hatch' or 'sprout' or whatever it is they do. They naturally come to rest at the nursery the Fae have set up. We must retrieve one of these spirit buds." You say to Xilania Nevagon,"And you want me to go get it?" Xilania Nevagon says to you,"Not exactly. The spirit buds are fragile, Serenade. When the bud lands it secures itself to the surface it lands on. Neither you nor I could pull the buds from this surface without severely damaging the bud, something we can not have. The shrumblers, however, can uproot the buds." You say to Xilania Nevagon,"So we use a shrumbler to get a spirit bud." Xilania Nevagon says to you,"Yes, but we must prepare the shrumbler first. When a shrumbler plucks a spirit bud it begins the digestion process very, very quickly. That, too, will damage our spirit bud. Though I do have a plan. As you may have guessed by now, I have observed the ecology of the shrumblers for some time. One thing that may help us is one of the predators of the shrumblers: the sandsponges." You say to Xilania Nevagon,"How will they help?" Xilania Nevagon says to you,"When the sandsponges consume a shrumbler, they do not chew it. They simply take it inside their system. The makeup of the sandsponge's body then starts the digestion process. One part of this process has the effect of constricting the throat muscles of the shrumblers. This happens along the entire length of the shrumbler." You say to Xilania Nevagon,"All right." Xilania Nevagon says to you,"So, with some help from nature, we shall have what is ours. By taking a shrumbler to the beach and allowing a sandsponge to consume it, then rescuing it from the sandsponge, we will have a shrumbler with a constricted throat. This shrumbler can then be released among the spirit buds of the nursery to find a bud for us without the fear of the shrumbler digesting the bud." You say to Xilania Nevagon,"Interesting." Xilania Nevagon says to you,"Take this net deep into the grobin caves, south west of the nursery in northern Greater Faydark. Find a shrumbler hatchling and catch it. Use that hatchling as bait for a sandsponge. Once caught, pull the hatchling from the sandsponge and release it near the Fae nursery. The shrumbler will take care of the rest. Bring the spirit bud directly to me, Serenade." You say to Xilania Nevagon,"I understand." Xilania Nevagon says to you,"This is an important task. Do not let Innoruuk down."

You say, "Hail, Xilania Nevagon" Xilania Nevagon says to you,"Do you have the spirit bud?" You say to Xilania Nevagon,"I do." Xilania Nevagon says to you,"Well done, Serenade. Well done." You say to Xilania Nevagon,"What purpose will it serve?" Xilania Nevagon says to you,"Look to the Teir'Dal for your answer. These spirit buds will elevate us like none before. And in this elevation you have played a significant role. More than that I cannot tell you." You say to Xilania Nevagon,"I understand." Xilania Nevagon says to you,"I am sure you do not, but you will. Good day, Serenade. Thank you." You say to Xilania Nevagon,"You're welcome."

So anyway, if Innoruk is stealing a spirit bud to corrupt the Fae race, it kind of fits in with the theories of a Dark Fae race, the Arsai, etc. As one person in the other forum noted, what better way for Innoruk to slap Tunare in the face then to corrupt her new chosen ones as he did her old?

(psst... answer is no) They WONT make it so the vamps dont need food or /rolls eyes, consumes their "victims" (gods i feel re-tarded just for saying that) for sustenance.

Wish this notion would die with a stake in its heart...

If they did add vampires as a playable race, then to remedy not comming out at night, how about a new vampire-race that has the ability to withstand sunlight? A daywalker, like Blade? This new vampire-ish race would also require blood packs for food/drink that could be player-crafted or bought from certain areas/merchants. This would fix having to re-design the food system for 1 race... Their could also be a quest to get infected like EQOA that would turn your current characters race into a vampire type. If they added a quest to do this then it should be long(like the vampire illusion form quest line) and difficult to do, but very rewarding. Their could also be a quest to cure yourself and turn back into the normal race of you character.(although I don't like this idea as much as a starting race and I don't think it is as plausible either.) As for vampires not being a real race, but just an infected elf/human/etc. Here is a way to get by that. The quest to turn yourself into a vampire would not be added if they did this. The new vampire-ish race could be a hybrid of dark elf and vampire. What if Queen Christanos or some other dark elf female was bitten by a vampire while pregnant? Like in Blade, his mother was bitten while still carrying him, when he was born he was born as a vampire with all of their strengths but none of their weaknesses, (save having to drink blood/serum to sustain him) and could walk in daylight.(Dracula, aka Drake in Blade III could also walk in daylight because he was the first of his kind, unique and hadn't had his gene pool mutated by generations of birth or infections.) In the first movie, there are the elders, who are all born as vampires, not turned after being born a normal human, like Frost himself and his followers. These are called the (can't think of the name right now) pure breads I think in the movie. Therefore being born a vampire warrants the ability to pro-create other vampires, like the elders. Back to a dark elf being bitten by a vampire while pregnant or breeding with a vampire type that was born a vampire, not turned, like the elders or even Drake/Dracula in Blade III. If this happened then the child could be the very first spawn of this new vampire playable race. This new vampire race (insert creative name here, such as the D'arnasai or something) would be day-walkers, able to withstand sunlight. They would still need to drink blood to sustain themselves, which as I stated above could be easily remedied by creating a new type of food/drink named blood pack or bottle of blood or something that only this race could consume, but would still add the normal health and power regen as normal food/drink. Just some ideas: Their racial ability could include a lifetype proc that can only be cast every 30 mins or so like the normal racial dmg proc of the other races that would allow them a 3-5% lifetap on a successful attack that would scale with level. Other racial abilities could be added that will only work or could only be cast at night, such as Infect, which turns a regular humanoid-only mob into this race of vampire, to be used as your pet for a limited duration, say 10 mins.(Would work kind of like charming but with a long recast about an hour or so.) As for looks, when you create the character, you can make them look more like the regular vampires from bloodline chronicles but change facial appearance, fang size, hair color etc. Check out the vampires in neriak near the D'morte inn. One of the vampires in the corner that you can hail looks different from the vampires in bloodlines with lighter skin and white hair, and a different hair-style. I think they look pretty cool and with the ability to customize your character to look like that then it would add some flavor to the normal look. I know that the vampires in eq2 look a lot like darkelves with red eyes but if you could customize them on creation that would allow people to notice a difference in the dark-elf/vampire race enough to where I think a lot of people would play them. Also not just looks but unique racial abilities would be a reason to play them. There is no L&L of vampires and even if there were it could be removed/changed so that this new race of daywalkers would not be affected by the master strike or even the vampire-only abilities that one gets through the bloodline chronicles, because the new race of daywalkers would be called something different than regular vampires, a vampire hybrid that looks similar and has a lot of the same traits as the regular vampires, therefore solving the pvp-balance issue of using those abilities against other players. There could even be a quest to unlock this new playable race like the froglok quest in eq2. A new area could be added with history, lore, a storyline(like how the race started), where the quest would start and be completed or have parts of it be completed. I would really like for there to be a vampire-race added to eq2 and I think a lot of people would agree with me on this. Remember that this is a game, content can be added, removed, changed, etc and anything is possible. The only limit is your imagination. There is always a way that the devs could change something to allow this to be possible, and to fix any issues of balance, current spells, etc.
