How to play on test?

<p>Perhaps the right forum, maybe not, hope I reach the right audience.</p><p>I am interested in checking out the new stuff coming our way on the Test Server. I see the "Test Server" icon on the patcher login page so here are my questions:</p><p>(1) I have heard that Test Server needs to be installed, how much additional space does it require?</p><p>(2) It is my understanding you get 6 additional slots for toons to play in Test, is this correct and you need to level new toons to play in Test?</p><p>(3) If #2 is accurate, is leveling the same as live play or can you choose the various levels of toons for testing purposes?</p><p>(4) How do you switch between Test and Live servers on the patcher login window once you have played in test?</p><p>That should get me started but any insight as to pitfalls etc in using Test would be appreciated. many thanks.</p>

To get started, you should read the official <a href="http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/posts/list.m?topic_id=170" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">FAQs</a> regarding the Test Server. I'll try to answer your individual questions too, but I'm not the most technically minded person. (1) I have heard that Test Server needs to be installed, how much additional space does it require? <span style="color: #ff66ff">  It takes about as much space as the original game. It's basically a whole second copy of the game. </span>(2) It is my understanding you get 6 additional slots for toons to play in Test, is this correct and you need to level new toons to play in Test? <span style="color: #ff66ff">You are correct on both counts. </span><p>(3) If #2 is accurate, is leveling the same as live play or can you choose the various levels of toons for testing purposes?</p><p><span style="color: #ff66ff">You must start from the beginning, and there is no "beta buffer," but you get a 50% XP bonus which you can toggle off if you like (it's on by default).</span> </p><p>(4) How do you switch between Test and Live servers on the patcher login window once you have played in test?</p><span style="color: #ff66ff">If you follow the instructions in the FAQ I linked at the beginning, you will end up with two launch icons on your desktop, one for Test and one for Live. You simply select the appropriate one for whichever version you wish to play at the time. The test client is normally only slightly different than the regular client. You copy over all the major files if you follow the directions.
