I have resurrected my old server start Necro. Level 28. after being out of the game for 16 mths.

I have spent most of my time getting rid of grey/green quests so that i can do

something useful re AAs( She has 12 unused as of yet). I cannot say that I had much trouble with any

number of blue/green groups or yellow/white singles.

But I came a big "thud" in the Cove of Decay when curiosity opened the door before I was really ready mindwise.

Everything in the place was^^^ and in groups of 3 or 4. They were green or blue and the 4s were blue.

Not having been here before I thought OK !! let's have a go!!

Well I managed to solo through 3 groups of ^^^greens and 1 of blue^^^ but died 3x.

As each time I died that mob group was reduced by 1 or 2 it wasn't hard to wipe the survivor(s) out.

The next group were the 4 ^^^blues so I resisted temptation and sensibly left.

My question(sorry about the time it took to get here) is just how do you deal with a group of 3-4 ^^^ greens or blues while solo?

What I tried was 1) root mob 1; 2 stun/fear Mob2; sic pet onto Mob 3.

I kept 1) rooted always and if he broke(which a blue^^^ will) I had to waste a stun/fear on him b4 I rooted again.

2) was OK if 1) stayed rooted, but if I had to use my stun/.fear on 1) I was in melee trouble with 2) b4 I could stun/fear and move.

So then I simply debuff/DOT'd him and Rot/lifetapped until i could get a stun/fear in. More often I died.

3) If i was lucky( not always ) my fighter pet only need a few heals and I could help him out with a few more lifetaps or rots(if they were available) and he did reasonably well in def stance. Then we were down to just 1) and 2) and it became fairly simple to just root 1) and help my pet pull 2) offa my back with a limited power dump. After 2) I was in poor shape as was the pet but I had to sic him onto 1) as I was running out of life and power was down to 35%. Once he had aggro and was in the red I rooted 1) and then wiped the pet and recast another fighter and he did the trick with me just rooting and lifetapping and healing. He finished in the yellow and I finished up with 25% hps and 5% power but that ws the one group where we won without loss.

Now a) did i do this in the most efficient way?Or was I just plain lucky? I ask as this was my first major grouped mob combat for 18 mths with this char and I am still feeling my way with her. I was not game to use my warlock as he although having nice DPS is tissue paper in the hands of single ^^^s

b) In other games you can key lock mobs 1,2 & 3 so that youy always know EXACTLY which one is which. But in EQ2 it is impossible to know which one is which once they/you move around. Is there a method of locking targets to a key to stop you ,say, rooting the wrong one etc.?

Again I ask this as in the combat above I was very lucky as I always picked the right mob to cast upon BUT this was where i was lucky as ordinarily with any char in EQ2 this is a MAJOR problem with me. Is it so with others?
