I would really appreciate if you can make this option available.

Due to the strange translationing process on german servers, its nearly horrible with lag on raids, some mobs even have that as a special. You cannot get into Mistmoore Castle with more than a group without risking being out-lagged after a few minutes. Not to mention the strange thing you call translation there, as we call it Denglisch, just confusing and misleading and sometimes even amusing language as it is. I appreciate the effort you have with translating the programm, but we should be able to choose in with language we want to play on our servers and if I have english language but a perfectly stable and playable game, I would really prefer this one, instead a Denglisch language and horrible lag situations on raids.

I know its been discussed on the boards for an eternity, but netherless, I vote for this english language option on our german server., Let us choose what we want to play.

edit: This is not an official vote, neither is it meant to be one, just a possibility to show the problems we do have on our servers and everybody may feel free to add his comment.

Umm, no offense, but if you wanted to play the game in English, why didn't you pick an English server? There are only a few non-english servers so i doubt they'll turn a German one into an English one.

FYI OP, petitions are against the forum rules, and this will be locked more than likely.

Umm ... where did you get the idea that lag is based on the translation? Lag in raids is also present on the English servers (Unless English gets translated into English too ). Although I can see what you're getting at. I wouldn't want to be hit by a "Supervernichtungsschlag for 8765 Hitze damage" either...

Have you tried turning names off? Might help with lag.

There's a post on the Caster's Realm forums with some tips on how to reduce lag in raids and large fights available HERE. Might help with the lag issue.

This was around the time when all localized servers had horrible lag do to the translation (IIRR it was in Fall last year pre EoF). Why do we play on a localized server? May be because the cover of the EQ2 box said "handbook and game are in german" and you think "Great!"? Well, you install the game, start playing and sooner or later you will meet "denglish". Sentences half german / half english. Not one sentence in german and the next one in english... No, both languages nicly mixed in one. And to make it even more fun collection parts for example are named in english in the quest book but you have to search for them in german on the broker. And it's still getting better: Usualy one or two of these collection items are german in the journal and english on the broker or english / english or german / german. Or when adpet1 / adept3 are german and the master version of the same spell is english? If you think you found the pattern to search for the stuff the next (translation) patch will change everything. And the patch 2 days later will do it again, a patch a week later again, the next update again... Oh, and not to forget the option to harvest "-752 divine Schaden".

You are correct in that part of the text is translated on the server and part is translated on the client. So while it would be possible to set your client up to run in English, text sent from the server would still be in German and it might cause even more confusion. As far as the translation issues, we have made some huge leaps in the past couple of weeks to eliminate incorrectly translated text. Hopefully you will be seeing the improvements soon as it takes time for new text to go through translation and eventually make it to the live servers. Please continue to send /bug reports for any incorrect text that you find, especially text that is not being translated at all.

Please can you explain why text which was already perfectly translated, is now after GU32 back to english. This is most annoying with the collection items.

Rothgar wrote:
Please continue to send /bug reports for any incorrect text that you find, especially text that is not being translated at all.

The translations often change so fast, that sending bug reports could be quite futile. At the moment Butcherblock is "Ant", last month it was "Respawn in the vicinity of Butcherblock". Loping Plains is correct at the moment, last month it was "Respawn in the vicinity of Loping Plains" in the guild overview, but a row of boxes, when you zoned in from Lesser Faydark. At the moment the horse stations in Lesser Faydark are in English, please leave them like this, because in all the months since the release of EoF the German ones were never correct, which resulted in quite a few detours.

And so on, and so forth.

In reality the overwhelming majority of players on German servers have given up hope for a better translation. I dare say that some have even grown to like the running gag of the translation, which constantly offers us new surprises.

What is much more important to players is that the technical issues concerning translation be solved. That should have top priority. As far as I am informed, attempts have been made to have a dev sit in on a raid on a German server. So, I think SOE is at least aware of the problem.

Out of curiosity, how long does the game freeze on an English client, when mentoring somebody? More or less than 10 seconds?

I have a question for those on English Servers:

Does Mistmoore Castle produce a lag, when you are there, with only ONE GROUP in the whole Zone, when ONE Vampire attacks your group and uses his delevel / cast time enhancer ability on you ? We had 10 sec lags.

Sorry, but no one goes to MMC anymore, if not for questupdates, or moving a raid through MMC (which is more horrible) to MMIS. And i won't start to tell you about the weeks of lag we had when KoS was introduced

MMIS, same story, lags with vampires, doesn't lag with any others. Nice to see 10 secs and more lag - next time the Raid is dead. Way to go.

I want an english client, too. Can i have one ? I won't count the customers sony has lost because of the translation. Could have been helped if we had the option of an english client and then a route around the "translation servers".

The Purpurroter Pfeiffer has hit YOU for 9532 schlagwaffenverletzungsbedingtere Damage.

Regards, theriatis.

It is indisputable that the current state of translation is a pitiful mess. However I think allowing english on German language servers would have a very severe disadvantage: it would enable "you know where they're from" platin farmers to play on German servers. I haven't seen ANY spammer advertising platin for cash or cases of extreme farming/monopolizing of certain nameds (well besides a few raid guilds that monopolize contested nameds by controlling respawn). You can regularly read about others complaing about spammers/plat farmers on English language servers. Even SOE is from time to time trying to reduce spamming in their LUs. And still it seems to be an annoying problem on many servers. This is basically non-existent on our servers because they simply don't understand a word. I'm willing to trade a perfect translation for this little bit of freedom which allows me to play without getting bothered by these *insert random censored words here*
