Just a place to put your random thoughts about the upcoming expansion and your memories of it, the first time around. Kunark brought a new mob ability to Norrath. The abiltiy to gate. You could tell they were about to gate because little bubbles would start erupting from their feet and you had to stun them or they'd gate back to their spawn point, heal up, and come after you...bringing every mob along the way to you. Mobs also started summoning YOU to them in this expansion. It was now impossible to kite some mobs. Wolf form could get you into trouble with certain guards in cities/outposts. A good read of Kunark history... I remember some of the items from Kunark: Kunark was the dawn of "epic quests"...I think the only "epic" quest in the original EQ was the Soulfire and PAL only. Kunark brought class-set armor, as well...with right-click abilities on some parts of it. (e.g. Ranger armor could summon arrows and with BP, you could gate) Fungi Tunic, of course Froglok Bonecaster's Robe (FBR) Lamentation (dropped from Sebilite Golem) Top 10 Kunark Items from Gamespy (Ebon Mace, Fungi Covered Great Staff, Insignia Protector, FBR, Cobalt BP, Rune Branded Girdle, Fungi tunic, Tranquil Staff, Heirophant's Cloak) Kunark MOBS I remember: Gorenaire in DL (in EQ2 now) Trakanon in OS Talendor in Skyfire (in EQ2 now) Severilous in EJ Feydedar in Timorous Deep... Venril Salthir was the boss of Karnor's Castle. (I'll add more as I remember)

My fondest memory of Kunark would have to be soaring over the Dreadlands with Song of Travel, something which doesnt seem likely to be repeatable in EQ2 For the longest time my forum sig for EQ1 was of my bard flying into the sunset over DL, but I can't find that image anymore The closest I can find is a later sig image of a night time flyover:

A close match in Kunark memories is bard-bungiee jumping off the massive spires in the dreadlands - you know those HUGE ones above the lost city? You'd climb up to the very top of the spires, turn off all songs, and then leap from the top, and start a lev song shortly afterwards. If you timed it right, the song would kick in a few feet from the ground -- or you'd make a nice crater.

... What? Like you had better ways to spend waiting for a raid to be called?

An Odd Mole in Kurns Tower (and even the tower itself) I must have camped that fat little [Removed for Content] until the end of time.. I still remember the guild chat that night... Me: Look at him..running back and forth, thinking he owns the place...I'll show him... 20 seconds later Me: So, I'm dead again...Curse you mole!!!

I absolutely was estatic when I completed Inny's curse. It took me 46 POH raids to get the drake update. Each raid I attended was pretty much an open raid, and they'd last 5-6 hours sometimes. What a beautiful timesink

Ak Kurns Tower my 1st dungeon, being an Iksar and all. Myself and 2 guildies Sargis and Zionak took shifts camping the Jester for that rare club (name eludes me)LOL, we camped him in shifts for several days and finally got it we then sold it for a fortune. This was early Kunark release when this thing was worth a Ton. Anyone remember the name of it? 1st guild was an Iksar only guild called Cult Of Skulls(VZ) ANY ole COS out there drop me a line. Kunark was awesome I spent almost my entire time there. I didnt even leave Kunark till like lvl 45 Even after doing a little off Kunark exploring i still did most my later lvls there Had many good time in LOIO since that was 1st place i ran into the lighties for many a good pvp Camping King Mushroom for Fungi Tunic was a blast Anyone remeber the name of that bad [Removed for Content] Skelly that used to raom the outer edges of the pit in FOB in the early days?

Using Grav Flux to get on top of the Firiona Vie statue in Firiona Vie I loved all the hidden walls and floors and openings in places in Kunark, too. Like City of Mist you go through the fake wall and you end up on those transparent platforms high above the zone. It was neat.

Ya the Overthere was a great zone. Had something for almost any lvl. Goons handed me my lunch many time. It was a great day for me when My Iksar guildies and I first got our revenge on the Goons. Man did that feel good Keasora was a great dungeon once you figured it out, some great EXP and loot. Not many people ever went there on VZ. So my mates and me pretty much had the run of it.

KC: "Train to zone!". Sebilis: "Is fungi king camped?". OT: "Dragoon going to...<forget the name of the camp sport in OT near zone to FM>". Had lots of fun in the kurnak dungeons: Kaesor, Chardok, Sebilis, Mines / Tempel of Nurga, Dalnir... Oh, and running to EC as an level 11 Iksar SK. Dunno how often I was killed till I managed to get there.

The sheer size of Kunark when it first released. Everything about Kunark was overwhelming. And there was so much content that was really well done. I levelled several characters through just about every single zone in Kunark and never not once did I ever lose my sense of amazement at what the developer's put into that expansion. I fell in love with everything about Kunark, especially the lore surrounding every zone, every dungeon, everything had a place and a purpose. I never will forget the first time I finally stepped through the portal into Sebilis! To me, that was the moment I felt like I had "made it" into the big league. That now I was part of the community that I had heard so much about, but was not yet a part of. I cannot wait until I step foot on that continent again

mystic586 wrote:
TRAIN TO THE RIGHT!
NO! Go left!!! hehe Now that's a memory. Couldn't be in KC without a train macro. I still miss Droga. I think my guildmates got sick of hearing me ask who wanted to go. LOIO was awesome; many great groups at the sarnak fort. And I loved to solo those aqua gobbos in the lake. And later, absolutely love the new underwater zone they added. And although I hated the grind in DL from 40 to 50, I miss seeing all the different incoming macros folks had for there. I hated getting out there though; those frakin' spider women didn't like anyone. But I remember being so proud to finally be high enough in level to travel that way. Oh and love playing with the white dragon that wandered over there. That was an awesome, and scary, sight to see the first time through the tunnel before you realized you had faction with her...thankfully. I don't miss, however, having to look at that blasted book until level 35. Overthere hill groups were scary when all you could see were your spell icons and "ha, you only think you've gotten better at medding." ok /sarcasm off. Best memories I have of Kunark though, were when in a guild group with all guys and I died (as par for the course for rangers when confronted with goons). You remember the good old days of the red bikinis, don't you? Yep, my half-elf ranger revived at the wall, and the whole run back got to hear all the chides and jokes about how they were all going to get to see me nekkid. HA fooled them! Threw up camo when I got close, had my corpse drag macro at the ready (which was actually built into the UI when you selected ranger at the char creation screen hehe), and dragged my corpse to the back corner camp before looting my stuff. Then got to hear "where'd her corpse go?" "Did you see it disappear?" "Hey there it goes!" "Aw man Kay that's so cold and unfair!" to which I responded muhahahahaha And the other was on a raid in CoM and got knocked off the invisible stairs. Thankfully we had lev up and I drifted gracefully on the the roof of a building. Got to spend the rest of the raid up there watching the goos go by, and shouting to our MT in raid chat..."Hey Rin, I can see your house from here!" hehe

The best Kunark drop was the Granite Face Grinder. No level minimum on it and it was such a hard hitting 2h hammer. Man I loved that weapon.
