Unfortunately this will probably be the case. I don't think that healing should be considered offensive and put you in pvp combat. Well maybe out of group healing should. But thats it in my opinion. I will be happy enough to see the no zoning change and so forth. I guess beggars can't be choosers.

With the good food and a full tier of totems applied, a healer could cast every single heal over and over and over and never have their power even move. They would do this and wait for their victim to get low on power then they would engage. It was extremely exploited and with the change to AAs would be even more insane.

Healing yourself puts you in combat. Same with putting on any buff or casting any potions etc. This is the way it should be.

I have a 26 Fury that I play quite often, this will effect him a lot. I am not worried however.

Actually, using potions to cure yourself of roots and whatnot does not put you into combat. i've rooted countless people who either use a potion to cure the arcane, or a mage will cast Cure Arcane without being put into combat.

What if a Brigand sends his Thugs or if a Summoner send his Swarm at me? Will I be prevented from zoning?

If so, then this update is totally ridiculous.

Supposedly Brigand's Thugs no longer will put you into combat ... but SOE's said that before and it wasn't fixed, so no guarantees. As for Summoner's pets, no idea, but I'm betting that they'll fix that at the same time or before Brigand's Thugs.

I'm a healer, and I completely supported the end to out-of-combat healing. I also completely support the end to out-of-group-and-level-range healing. Both are non-sensical and I'm glad both of these things will be impossible soon. As for healing putting you into combat ... that's a tougher call, but certainly if you're taking PvP damage you shouldn't be able to heal it back without going into combat, so I think making healing = in-combat is a good choice.

Honestly, I think the best solution would be to end the whole in-combat vs. out-of-combat distinction. If your Ranger is shooting me in the back, I can see how he might need to run slightly slower while actually aiming the bow, but when I've got a dozen arrows sticking out of my back, I'm certainly going to be running very much slower! I'd rather see SOE do away with the in-combat/out-of-combat distinction, or at least make it so that you go into combat not only when you hit someone else, but also when someone hits you. Because really, if they're shooting arrows into me, I'm already in combat ... the only difference is that I'm now LOSING the combat.

Similarly, I'd like to see a no-zoning-allowed if you're being attacked. If they must, give someone immunity only if they do not move while/after zoning. The moment they move, they instantly lose immunity. Then, don't allow them to zone back and forth all day at the same door. Maybe allow them to zone into and out of a door, but not back into the door for 5 minutes.

Also, I hope the 40% max damage for one combat art/spell is implemented soon.

My mage can however, cast his cure without getting put in combat.

Self healing puts you in combat .. it has too because if it doesn't then healers become way over powered .. I can remember many a ranger getting bored trying to kill my out of combat Inquis when I rolled one to see how I liked em .. I would pretty much just sit there till whoever was attacking me ran out of mana .. unfortunatly they normally ran off then so I didn't kill too many people

Healing yourself IS engaging you in combat just as much as somebody throwing a punch at you .. it is a beneficial ability .. simple solution is run less fight more

My deflection adornment puts me into combat when it procs a heal. At least I think this is the case or there is some other bug that is putting me into combat. SOE should make it just like armor procs and reposts and disable it until you go into combat. I foresee this as a major bug once the no zoning goes live.

Items that proc will not proc until you are engaged in combat.

However, once you are in combat and have a lot of procable items (my guardian has a lot) you will never get out of combat if your trying to run away while getting hit even if you turn your attack off unless you get rid of all your procables, which would require me to take off about 80% of my gear and remove several buffs. Not worth it.

Poitions and Totems DO put you in combat (of anykind). Just tested it out.
