View Full Version : Getting to "new" messages in a thread

Does anyone know if there are plans in place to make jumping to just the new messages in a thread possible again? Of all the changes, this is the one causing me the most trouble now. Some of the threads are dozens of pages long, and yes I am able to jump to the last page, but that doesn't help me if there have been a couple of pages of discussion since I last visited.

It's very difficult to remember what number post was the last you read in a thread. Help? Am I just missing something or is this function still completely missing? I find it very difficult to believe that this forum software doesn't have that capability.

The other problem is, when you logout(either by closing your browser or logging out), all posts are marked as read even if you didn't read them. Which makes it really hard to tell where exactly you left off if you read a post, read some others and somebody made a new post on that first thread but you hadn't read it yet and logged out. This is really annoying.

Oh, that actually accounts for some of the other "weirdnesses" with new posts not showing as new and me missing them completely. Drat. This is making it really hard to keep up in the forums... and I really love these forums so I hate that it's now a frustrating thing for me rather than my sanity break during the day.

Ok, so not only can I not get to new messages in a thread (wow some people talk too much). But I can't even remember which threads I've posted in and also don't have anyway to know if someone is trying to talk to me.

Um. Is there an ETA on any of these fixes? Can anyone give me an idea on how I can track this stuff while changes are being worked through?

I agree being able to quickly and easily jump to new messages inside of a thread is a feature I miss dearly.

Doesn't look to me like they are going to change anything in these forums. I have not seen a change, or a post from a dev to say they are going to work on them. I used to like coming to the boards, I could see my favorite topics and how many new posts, now I have to dig through the posts to remember if I have read it or not. I have kind of given up.

That's where I am at. The 'new and improved' are so much worse, that it isn't worth coming here.

I now come, to try and sort through dev tracker, see if anything worth while is there and then leave.
