Well after all the big debates in the PvP forum I decided I had to give it a try.

Two friends and I are looking to setup some "part time" pvp characters in addition to our pve'ers. I was wondering if you guys had some suggestions for a good little trio? We probably want to stay on Qeynos side.

I was thinking maybe monk -or- swashie + mystic + xxx? But we're completely open to whatever.

I'm a Freeporter, but if you're going to do the Q side, I'd recommend a Swashy, Mystic and Warden/Fury; or Swashy, Warden and Fury. That way you'll have 2 healers and still have dps ability. But honestly, there's a lot of good possibilities for a 3 person group. I'm suggesting the Swashy as your tank because he gets tracking, but depending upon the level a Monk is quite good too, but I wouldn't build a PvP group of any size without a tracker.

A scout is the cornerstone of any group. I'd recommend a Swashy because he's probably the strongest scout. Rangers aren't strong in mele, and you'll need a mele scout in a 3 person group. Dirges and Troubs are strong in the lowest tiers (T2 and T3) but they'll eventually fall significantly behind Rangers and Swashies. The Ranger is the best solo pvp scout, but in a group a Swashy is better IMHO .. and insanely hard to kill with all their detaunts. They also pump out the most mele damage.

I'd go with one druid because they're a very nice blend of healing and dps'ing, so that versatility is perfect for a small group. You could go with both druids if you want, but that would place a large premium on the Swashy to tank and dps.

No matter what you do, I'd encourage you to level up your tradeskilling to make money and harvest to make money. Otherwise, you'll find yourself one of the few untwinked players in pvp, and it'll hurt ... a lot. If you're planning on doing PvE content on Nagafen, rest assured that if you're not in an instance, you will be ganked, early and often. So, pick a level and lock everyone at that level and gear out, then pvp a lot at that level. When you're all ready to move on, unlock combat xp and level up a bit more, but try to make as much money as you can to buy the combat arts/spells you need and the armor for that next tier. Most people level up one character to farm for their lower level pvp mains ... thus truly twinking. Regardless, if you come to the PvP servers without putting much into it ... you may not have the best initial experience. So, prepare for it, and get the characters ready ... no rush to level up, lock xp so you can gear up and have some fun where all the pvp action is .. T2 and T3.

Well, the dps out put will be somewhat lower, but i reckon they will be insanely hard to kill, especially if the zerker knows his stuff. And if you plan to move up to T7 that will only get harder. A fully fabled tank with a templar as backup will be a handfull for any grp. And Zerker dps is not too shabby either. The nastiest teams I have run into lately are druids, go Druid Druid Druid and you all will destroy tons.

Mystic Templar Fury. You will never ever ever ever die to an even con group, and if you do, it will take forever.

I noticed that no one has included wizard or warlock, yet warlocks in particular seem to be able to dish out massive aoe dmg. Any reason for the preference toward scout dps?

Are you going to lock at a certain level or go all the way to 70? I would go with: Zerker, Swash, Fury

As for locking, we are still discussing how we want to approach it. Our pvp characters would most likely be "side projects" for us.. so we thought about locking somewhere in the low/mid 20's, and then building the character from there.

Swashy (group stealth, see stealth), Illusionist (Group invis, see invis), and Mystic (50% run speed).

You get to pick your targets with maximum chance of ambush. Small group pvp requires you to be the stalkers.. and the 50% run speed is great for chasing down those that broke the chain

Just mho though.. and i hate qs..
