This one is a long shot, but here goes:

I spend about as much time playing EQII as I do playing online Texas Hold'em poker (for play chips). I was thinking today that maybe the two could be combined. We already have the Goblin gambler where you stand alone and gamble, why not Freeport Hold'em where you would play with 9 players, or even thousands in a tournament.

There could be card rooms in major cities and there could also be hosted tournaments as well as single table games. SOE could take a rake of the currency (money sink) and the players take their winnings from other players or from a tournament pot just like in RL.

The way I envision it is that you would actually go to a card room and sit at a poker table (I guess we have to be able to sit first). You would sit and see and communicate with other players, all the while playing Freeport Hold'em and building a cohesive unit of players---probably thousands of players considering how popular Hold'em is.

I know, I know---Poker--Are you kidding me???? We already have gambling/lotto, why not something that will bring thousands of players together on a regular basis? It is play money after all.

Thoughts?

Not sure how appropriate something like that is for a game rated PG13+

I play EQII for the crafting and PVE so for me this is a horrible, dreadful idea. I don't gamble IRL or in games. Have never spent even a copper at the goblin gambling thingy. Just not where my interests are.

Do you know, I would never leave the house if something like this came to fruition. Literally, I would be molded and stuck to my seat with millions of pop tart wrappers around me unable to move due to the growth of my lower half... This idea cannot happen for the good of womankind! I love the idea!

So are you suggesting that the players use in game currency or be able to bet with RL money? I would be up for it if you could use in game money, but I think it would be a big no no if they tried to go beyond that. It is PG 13 and it would be very inappropriate for that to be an option. Think of all the kiddies that use their mommy's credit card . . . oh my. Hell, there is already a tavern in NQ with gambling tables in it, so that would be the perfect venue.
