I love this idea. It was probably my favorite part of SWG before I left before the revamp... that and the housing. I doubt we would ever see it though, but I love the idea!

This has been talked about for sometime. In the recent DEV Interview they mentioned that this was something that was still on the list. It may very well happen for the next expansion who knows but it would be cool.

Aye I absolutely loved the idea of SWG's town's and Guildhalls.

Would be great to see them open up the two castles and have the guild halls set in there as different parts of the castles The differing levels of guilds determining whereabouts in the castles the halls were.

Ho

I always thought a guildhall was a bit too limited in scope.

How many little islands are there out there in the Shattered Lands? How much guild status goes to waste after a guild hits max level?

So how about this. You have guild ISLANDS. Guildmembers can use a bell to go their guild's island. Instead of guild status points going into never never land, you have them going into a pool. Alternatively guildmembers could donate their own personal status to the guild pool. You use this pool (and gold/plat) to buy "upgrades" to the island. Bells to other locations, shops, menders, housing for guild members, bank, a central keep or even castle. Gardens, walls, trees, scenery, etc. Make costs recurring, for upkeep.

I realize one of the negatives would be fewer people around town. Some people like seeing lots of other people running around.

And it would take a ton of development. So I don't expect it would happen. But its kind of cool to think about.

Ele~

Actually, i think a "Guild Island" type thing would be a good idea.

It makes instancing them a whole lot easier... just a bell ring away.

Makes a bit more sense than having "100s of "guild halls" located in a single small building in the middle of a town. hehe.

And it would be a great Status/Plat dump for the game as well, as you mentioned.

Have several types of "land terrain" to select from to start with. ie green rolling hills (EL like), lavastorm like zone, etc etc.

Then you could basically have countless upgrades for guilds to purchase afterthat. Have some cost plat. have some cost Status.

Would be pretty cool overall.

there was several old posts and lot of concepts about guild house tiers or some room model designs and the types of "islands" selection depending on ranks or how wealthy can they afford.

using those guild items (relics, amulets, documents, and scry) to pay for status dues.

some folks like viking hall, other wants roman halls, nomad halls, arabian halls, merchant halls (italian designs), gladiator arena halls, oriental halls, or celtic halls, even a music halls.

some want wooded structures, stone, marble, or brick layered.

some want garden type, dungeon type, tavern/banquet types, or officer's great meeting room type, great game hunt safari room.

some want different types of trophies designed for halls instead of house items, carpenters and woodworkers would get new crafting recipes to make something new, weaponsmith would made crossed swords decorated on walls, and armorer would make decorated "Shields", and tailors to make banners and flags, nice to have guild banner to hang up "proudly".

This is just a reminder to SOE's development team, if the Guild Halls is coming available in months later, and i would safely say to the team, "Be Prepare for requests flooding for decorations!", that is lot to ask for Guild Banners, coat of arms, shields and crossed swords, set of trophies of various big game hunts, types of meeting tables, large rounded or large square shaped, Oval, or Elongated rectangle tables, and dont forget, chandeliers for lighting up dark rooms.

torture devices, various flowers, trees, food on tables and tankards., armor stands, large sized library bookshelves, too many to mentioning on the list to go on.

many players would send lot of list and maybe several links or concept arts to post some ideas. it would keep art team very busy for months and 3-D arts and textures.

I like the guild island idea with status after GL 60 going towards things that improve it.

I know in Freeport (North and South) there are those two large, unused buildings. They would be ideal to use for guild halls if the island idea is a little too large for the Dev's to work on. It would end up being the main 'headquarters' in the city where all the guilds were located. I am not sure if Qeynos has a similar set up.

In NQ there is that unused long building in front of the castle.

There you could have an instanced guild hall.

From a door perspective, there is a lot of room to expand the housing options. But, I'd rather like them to solve some of the placement bugs in the existing housing before they add more, even including guild halls.

ooo, the guild island idea is very cool! It would be fantastic if you could spend guild status points on getting bells to certain places, and getting merchants, and crafting equipment and all sorts!! This could work just as well with a guild hall too I hope SOE gives us guild halls!!!

going to have to forget those "unused" buildings, folks from FP cant go into qeynos for guild meetings, and vice versa.

so the dock route bells/ or new clickable that takes us to "instanced meeting zones" no matter where you come from.

it may have to use something like the size of DFC or maj'dul arena palance.

i would still go for rank requirements or chose some type of customizable guild house for changing the textures, change from wood to stone wall and alway leave open for "tour" just like we did seen in evil/good city's 1 rooms/2 rooms/multi-rooms pre-selected decoration floors and wall textures.

we need to have guild trustees and counsils to help with maintaining the rent dues, but some dont even have status points to pay the dues, so something else must take place, for example "pay 25 ebon relic" or 25 ruby amulets, but that is some idea that need to be throughly well planned and what really work better to help pay the dues.

also they would be on most "visited" home fashion on guild halls with new kinds of decorations which is specialized only crafted/rewarded items for guild halls only.

A guild hall would be a great idea! You can place guild merchants , bankers , and crafting tools there as well!

Guild Wars did this where u get an island for your guild hall. And once you have it you can Guild PVP!

I think something based around the instanced Guild hall idea would be good. Guild PVP is an option maybe on a pvp server?

But please, please do not let Guilds build towns!

SWG did this and now there are Empty unused Guild Towns all over the place!

  And thats my 2 copper!
