Hmm - I would rather have the old forums -- some good threads got wiped. Not really sure why SOE felt this was necessary. I don't see any improvement but a lot missing from the old forum.s

Hopefully everyone will notice how bad they are and go back to the old ones? So many missing functions.

3. Breadcrumb links at top and BOTTOM of threads now. Definitely like not having to scroll. 2. Home link on each post for a quick run to the top. Someone come up with number 1. These forums aren't all bad lol.

He he these forums look exactly like the 'free' software you can download and set up your own forums, and are just as crappy. They look just like DotNekNuke generic forums.

While the lithium forums had some issues, they were very very feature rich. Most of those perks I used a lot.

Basically it looks to me like they took a 'free' software package, added their images, imported the old stuff and slapped it up.

So far the only thing for me personally to celebrate about these forums is that it made it so difficult to find anything, it's easier to go back to work.

floating forums to the top

floating msgs to the top

search could be sorted

you could tell the difference between read and unread (unless i just got old over the last 10 days)

you could /gasp edit msgs (fixed)

there was a mark all msgs in all forums read

The new colors are horrid on the eyes

when you entered a thread it skipped to the 'newest msg in the thread, now it always go thte first msg (I am sure i am just missing how to make the new ones do this, but my post for help got eaten.)

email when someone responds worked.

you could see at a glance how many unread posts were in a forum/thread.

etc. etc.

But they are indeed using them anyway.

you will notice eq2flames.com forums look very similar (same shareware style), but actually they work better. :

I think you should rename this.. top 10 worst things. The NON-functionality of these forums astounds me from what you could do with the old software they had running.

The best thing for me was it forced me to find another EQ2 forum to lurk in that I, now, enjoy much more.

kosh

Putting my laundry list of dislikes aside, there is one thing I really like about this new forum setup...

Signatures are displayed in an iframe at the bottom of a user's post, and the source page for that iframe is always the same URL. This makes it SOOOO much easier to block people who are hotlinking the sigs I made for them. All I have to worry about is that user's sig URL, rather than adding a list to my .htaccess file as long as my arm of every thread or board that user posts in.

I was very pleasantly surprised when I discovered this change. It's by far the most sig-artist-friendly feature I've come across since the switch. /thumbsup
