Individual message reply with clear indication of what you didn't write. Login button (come on i must be missing this but where the heck is it???) I had to click PM to get a login screen. The old forums seemed clearer somehow. Eh, ill give these a shot, we'll see.....

I think a few things are still broken. -Avatar images -Post count -Colorizing of names in all spots, esp devs in search and tracker -Easily accessible login

Sigh i was hoping the no edit thing was a bug. Dammit

02-13-2007, 01:33 PM
The ability to have a tracker for myself. Going straight to my profile and using the "track all posts by this user" function is how I kept all my forum madness straight. Now I don't remember what I'm doing, or what conversations I'm in, or where they're gone. Actually, I also really miss having a clear visual indication of which threads I've posted in.

I really miss RSS-Feeds the most. The rest i can live with for a while...

I miss that everything worked...seems to be "bugs" with ALL the features

02-14-2007, 08:32 AM

Looks like the edit thing is a bug. Sony designed it to work based off how long you've been registered now. Good news is if you were registered on the old forums it counts that time as well. The time required to be registered before you are able to edit a post is 14 days. So, if Sony's hype about the new forums prompted your 1st visit here you are SOL and have to wait, if you were registered on the old forums for longer than 14 days the work-around is to logout of the forums and back in.

(Edited just to show the 'edited' message )

- I'd really love to see "floating" forums and threads again. That is a much missed feature. - Also I miss the "new posts" collumn on the forum index. Now I can only jump to the last post of the topic? What's the use of that? - I'd like to load up my own avatar. I liked the old forum's functions much better to be honest. Good thing: more room for my signature.

Mostly what others said, the float, see what ye posted in etc, but also the functionality of the search system. When searching on one or several keywords ye used to be able to sort the results in different ways, especially time wise. Doin a search now and and gettind results from 2004-2005 that are totally outdated and not bein able to filter it in any form is a pain.

02-14-2007, 09:39 AM

Seeing what threads have new posts.

02-15-2007, 04:27 PM

I miss Sorting functions for my search returns! Primarily sorting by date is most missed, but I should be able to click on my results and search by any of these headers: Category, Forum, Topic, Subject, Author, OR Post Date. Searches are far less useful to me when I need to sift through page after page; pages of sifting that I could avoid if you let me sort my search results.
I miss being able to tell at a glance what threads I have posted in, how many total posts there have been in that thread, and how many new posts have been made since my last reading.

Nitpicking on the quotes again. Good job getting the boxes around, but can they be indented now. I'm sure this low on the totem, but it looks better that way.

02-15-2007, 08:46 PM
I miss the option to print a post or print a thread. If it's still there, I can't find it.

02-16-2007, 12:34 AM
I miss the email notification of a new post..i really do it always gave me the chioce to add/see to a thread if i wanted to without trawling through the forums.

In order... 1. Floating 2. Self-Tracker 3. See which posts are new

02-16-2007, 07:37 AM
I like the auto-login very much I don't post much but read these forums a lot, these are the lost functionality from the old forums I miss:

Differentiate unread topic, not only show the new posts since last visit. I usually read these forums from work and don't have time to read all interesting sections at once. I'd like to come back (hours) later and still see the unread post, now I have to check the times of the posts including time zone calculations.

Jump to the first unread post in a topic.

Time zone change in profile: not only the unread posts are lost between sessions but I have to subtract 9 hours from my time to estimate the new post in a topic.

Floating forums

New feature suggestion:

Start of the post in tooltips in the topic list

Dark text on light background skin

Edit:

Bug: I posted as [email protected] but editing shows as "Message edited by sompet_eq2".

02-16-2007, 09:30 AM

The search from this forum is awfull. No way to select on the date, relevance or anything. what it finds is totally not what I was looking for. Hope we at least get a way to select on date of post or so because at this moment its useless.

I also miss the newest post in the overview. really missing that

02-16-2007, 09:41 AM
A non-GUI editer, along with a non-broken Profanity filter which filters out HTML code.

02-17-2007, 08:17 PM

I've read all 3 pages of this, and didn't see my most missed functionality that I REALLY miss.....

When looking at the main page (or a particular forum) you used to be able to see the title of the latest (at least I think it was the latest) post and jump straight to that post...

Yeah I know you can now click on the little doc in the 'last message' column -but it still means you have to actually go into the forum...

Also - posts by Devs used to be highlighted with a dark grey background (instead of black) - easy to scroll down and spot it -now I have to look at the author tag very carefully for each post.

And while we're at it - I just noticed the editor doesn't recognise the 'delete' key - (delete text to the right of the cursor) - just the backspace key...

Thoronve

In no particular order

- Floating

- Self tracker

- Buddy online notification

- Search relevance

- Threads flagged as posted in

- Tracking buddy/member posts

- Missing avatar titles (for some)

- The Old Grey Whistle Test (slightly off topic but worth mentioning I feel)

Friends list, hands down for me. I liked to be able to track the posts of various users to learn more about a lot of topics...so this is really missed.

#1 missed functionality is posts are marked as read when you leave and then come back between sessions. I don't have time to read all of the posts I an interested in. Now you have to check the date and time of the posts to determine if they are new or not between visits. #2 Cannot go directly to the first unread post! This could be my #1 also. #3 If you are reading a post in page 3 for example, when you click on forum link, you get sent back to first page...annoying as hell...I want to go back to the same page as I was on...page 3.

Most missed functions:

Advanced Search

Sorting of Search results

= Searching is pretty damned useless to me now.

Appologies in advance to all the trolls who complain about questions when there is already a thread with answer. Since searching is pretty broken gonna just have to ask them without knowing whether has been asked before.

For me it's still being able to edit old posts without getting a mess. I've got a big honkin' FAQ in the dirge forums to edit and keep up-to-date, especially in light of GU 32, and I'm afraid to touch it for fear of ruining the whole thing.

No preview = close second.

Whysprr

I miss these things:

1. The "go to"-forum dropdown menu that is located on the bottom of the page. I miss it to be both on the top _and_ bottom. Most of the time when I want to change the forum, I have my view on top of the current forum.

2. Quick search tab, which just searh for the phrase/word in current forum I'm viewing. Search => setup the search is too much work

3. Preview post

4. "Advanced Edit/Reply", Some times the post getting "corrupted", or just that I want a bit more control of the settings in the post. I.e. I want the edit method where I can edit the HTML codes directly.
