Only.. minus the Freeport Counters. On Venekor the Qeynos players have no way to get to the counters that are available to Freeport. I am trying to build a bar for my guildhall but I've never done so without using those countertops or the nice oooold curved counters /mourn

Anyone have any suggestions on how to make some counterstops that won't be too high for maple stools? Or do I need to make a 'higher' counter and have ash stools?

Not sure if this is possible there but make a freeport alt and set that character to a Trustee of your house in Qeynos then sneak the freeport character into your house and place the freeport counters. I got a level 2 Alt from freeport to south qeynos so it is definately possible in that regards as to whether you can set them to trustee on pvp im not sure but its an idea for you.

No, carpenters cannot make freeport wooden counters, they're Freeport-sold only. Make the alt, mail them coin, and have them mail back the counters is the easy answer.

Alternately you could probably make a slightly lower counter out of ornate halasian chests all in a row.

Or, the hard way would be to do approximately 70 Ironforge Exchange writs and buy the nice display cases that you get to buy at 10,000 faction. They look like cedar and have glass tops for viewing any items you place below. Pic:

Message Edited by Didi on 05-10-2006 09:20 AM

If it was as easy as making an alt I would have already for sure! :p But on Venekor (pvp) You can have NO contact with the other side. You can't make them trustees, you can't trade with them, there is no blackmarket, and you can't maill them. Gimme some credit if that's all I had to do, I'd have done it in a heartbeat! Hehe.

I was thinking about the Halasian Chest bar just today, Didi. Maybe I'll get started on those ironforge writs though. Hmm, player-made counters need to go in for sure!

PvP server? What is this strange foreign thing? :smileyvery-happy: I haven't even looked at their ruleset, didn't realize it was that restricted! The faction counters are very nice though ...

Edit: reading comprehension +1...

Message Edited by Didi on 05-10-2006 10:35 AM

I wish we could just trade... as against Fawne's ethics as it would be, I want countertops, dammit! I think I've come up with a way out of the way plot to "smuggle" them so to speak. Because dammit, equal rights for Qeynos in reguards to countertops! /pickets

Here is another idea I guess I don't know if its in teh game or not but you could make a freeport alt buy a bunch of counters then do the betrayal quest and voila you are qeynos now. This all assuming that the betrayal quest is still active on pvp.

Noooope. No betrayal right now. *sighs* Suppose that's the life I chose when I decided on PvP, hm?

My thought is... I get a friend who's willing to make a junk char and level it to 10. I'd so the same. Channel some money into my junk toon and then let the Freeport friend kill me, take 66% of my monies and call back to Freeport and buy a bunch of counters. Then come back and let me kill them repeatedly until they drop most or all of the counters. I just.. can't see any of way of going about it.

That's the only way I can see around it. I'd hate to actually have to resort to that. But then again I was one of the ones that really wasn't pleased when they took all the furniture off the merchants.

I suppose another way you could do this is to create a Freeport character and earn enough money for the counters, then sneak into Qeynos and place them, or create a second Freeport alt (under level 10) you can trade them to and get to Qeynos without having to worry about PvP (although you would have to worry about *shudder* owlbears). Maybe if the low-level character can become invisible, you won't have a problem getting through Nektulos before level 10. I'd suggest buying the other furniture, too, if you want it, so you only have to make one trip.I keep an alt in Freeport for just this purpose, and for those really expensive purchases on the fence, but I'm over on Antonia Bayle. I'd love to see the old furniture come back, too I haven't seen it, since I quit playing back a couple months after launch and couldn't afford furniture at the time.

Another option would be to use standard ash shelves, faced bookshelf side in to create a cube roughly the same height and depth of the freeport counter but half its length. You may prefer 3 deep to give it more substance, or just 2 deep for a slimmer look to it. Top it with some small burlap rugs to give it a polished look. You could also replace the rugs with a table, embedded into the shelves for a more finished appearance. Some tables that come to mind are the faydark table or the thexian table. There is a furniture gallery over at EQ2traders filled with screenshots to help you decide what player made items would work best for your look. http://eq2.eqtraders.com/articles/article_page.php?article=g17&menustr=070155000000

Hmmm... ash shelves might work...

As for the placing them in the house thing, it's a no go. You have NO way to communicate or intereact with the otherside besides attacking at the built in emotes. That includes housing.

So you can't make someone from the opposing side a trustee of your house? Maybe the "have a friend make a Freeport alt and kill them repeatedly for the counters" is the best way, then. Maybe you could use rugs for a more colourful look, but if you want wood, you'd probably have to use shelves or crates. The alder crate looks really nice. There's also the primitive elm bookshelf, which is fairly short, but not the prettiest item. Perhaps two ash bookcases placed shelves inward could work, too, or one of the benches.

This is my answer to lack of Freeport counters....or simply to avoid boring counters.... :smileyhappy:Sandalwood crates and your favourite paintings, I use the Painting of the Sun God, level 27 recipe. If you like are a taller race (or just like the taller look), double stack the crates. The taller version goes well with the T7 Adamantine Papasan Chairs. I've also done with the Maple Chests, which are smaller and the painting covers almost the entire width of the chests, however they don't have as clean a look on top and need a bunch more. Hope it helps

Message Edited by Magickalprincess on 05-11-2006 09:15 PM

Oooh, thanks. I'll take a look into a bunch of different options. For the time being I'm using Halasian Chests and maple stools since they are the lowest sitting non-rare objects. Looks nice, but I do like that sandalwood look.

Just a note, the sandalwood counter is quite low, can still see head and shoulders of a dwarf behind it

Very nice! The burlap painting, by the way, is the same as the Portrait of a Sun God. I really wish they'd stop reusing graphics for items.
