View Full Version : Herding cats...how do I control these guys?

What's up with the pet cats? One of my characters was trying to get all seven of her cats together for a screenie, and this proved nearly impossible as the cats kept taking off. On occasion I have been able to use the "put to bed" command successfully, and they curled up and went to sleep, but it doesn't work all the time and I can't figure out why. Also, there are many commands to use on the cats, such as attack -- but what will they attack? Any cat whisperers out there?

Have you tried using the attack command ? They just hiss or something, nothing special. If you take your cats to a friend's Maj'Dul house and put them there, they won't move. Then you can take your screenies.

How Maj Dul housing keeps your pets in line is something I wish would seep over into our other housing areas. Until SOE implements a /root command to hold a pet fast, I've given up on them. My two dogs are gone as is my monkey (I regret not claiming the painting instead). My KoS houseplant is unruly and constantly uproots itself too, so it's about to be put in storage. Alas, I am down to one cat which is about all the intrusion I can handle when decorating and "relaxing" at home.It rarely listens, climbs into/onto/through everything, and shows alot of attitude. Pretty much like a real cat. I can handle one.

Howlingmoon, I've TRIED using all of the commands, but it doesn't seem like I get much of a result from any of them. When I pet my cats, they don't purr and rub up against my leg, when I give them pepper (what a meanie!) they don't run around and sneeze and freak out. It seems like, if one were going to bother with making all of these commands available, one would make the commands really do something noticeable. So, I was hoping there was some secret formula I hadn't discovered yet. Play dead, for instance. I tried it 10 times, since it didn't work when I did it once or twice, and I thought maybe the cat had nine lives and at the 10th try it might actually fall over and feign death. No luck. Oh well, I was just hoping....:smileysad:Edited to say: On the "attack" feature, don't you wish that you could at least make them attack each other? Oh, I'd have a ball with that, siccing all seven cats on each other! :smileyvery-happy:

Message Edited by Galldora on 03-18-200610:20 AM

Ah, Lunnagirl, I'll bet you're right! My cats are hungry, so of course they can't go to sleep!

Feeding works most of the time, though there are times when they just wanna behave like a real cat and ignore me. =p
