I'm looking to set up a crafting center for my guild. I'm discovering that many good light sources generate unreasonable amounts of lag for some players. I would love to use paladin braziers or ebon sconces, but the lag is horrendous.Could someone suggest good light sources that don't generate lag?

<div></div>I presume that most of the lag is caused by shadows. Turn these down or off.

<div></div><div></div><div>None of the Christmas 2005 candles give off light. They themselves look quite bright, but they do not light up the area around it. Easy way to tell: place a candle near a wall. Cover up the half of the screen with the candle (like with a notebook or something), and look just at the wall next to the candle. Then remove the candle: does the wall get darker? If not: its not a lightsource, just a brightly colored item. Sad fact of the matter is that several "lightsources" (playermade and otherwise) are <a target="_blank" href="http://bortas.net/furniture/thumbnails.php?album=search&type=full&search=Bugged+Lighting">not actually lightsources</a>.</div><div> </div><div>But, I digress: To answer the OP question: the reason the braziers and ebon sconces create lag is because the lightsource also has a particle effect (the flames or the 'mystical' effect). What you need are the items that look like candles and actually give off light. Good options for those are <a target="_blank" href="http://bortas.net/furniture/displayimage.php?album=30&pos=14">Enchanter's Candelabra</a> (purchaseable from vendor for like 2.5g) or <a target="_blank" href="http://bortas.net/furniture/displayimage.php?album=30&pos=17">Fulginate Militia Sconce </a>(t5 playermade, not rare). Either one of these is really easy to come by, and not very expensive, and provides a pretty healthy portion of light. Finally, <a target="_blank" href="http://bortas.net/furniture/displayimage.php?album=30&pos=28">Tin Sconces </a>are half decent lightsources, not the coolest looking, but then again, any toon can make them...</div><div> </div><div>-bort</div><p>Message Edited by borto on <span class="date_text">02-26-2006</span><span class="time_text">07:38 PM</span></p>
