Postng this from work, so I don't have a screen grab here, but was fighting in Antonica, killed a mob that poisoned me. Was knocked unconcious, poison wore off. Was no longer in combat, had food, was not regenerating at all and begin getting "You are hit for 1 point of damage" every second until I was eventually dead. Was very annoying...

I'll post a pick of it when I get home.

Message Edited by Ce on 03-01-2005 12:15 PM

At about low enough negative hp you start bleeding to death.

I was not poisoned at the time. I fell and was knocked unconcious the first time it happened. I was not Neg hps either. The 2nd time I don't remember much about.

If this is bleeding to death, what's the point of having negative HP if you're only going to kill the toon anyway?

Most people I've spoken with about this are only frustrated by it (like the old "pain and suffering" in EQ1.

You can be saved by a heal during this time. You can also stop bleeding on your own and start healing up. Its random.

Its random.

It is a very rare event, because unless you killed what was attacking you at the same time you dropped, the mob would have finished you off. But yes, someone could heal you, or if you are eating really good food, chances are you would have regened back before dying or the bleeding could have randomly stopped and you would have recovered.

It has only happened to me a couple times, but I always thought it was kinda cool and kept me holding my breath seeing which way it was going to go. I suppose if it happened a lot it would become annoying though. But the only way it could happen a lot, is if you were fighting stuff that was an even match for you (not even con) and you and the mob were dying at the same rate constantly.. and you had a dot on the mob that would finish it off just as you dropped. Since hunting like this would incure massive amounts of XP debt generally, it is unlikely that it will ever be a common occurance.
