View Full Version : Need to look at TRadeskill Tasks (Writs) being offered

<DIV>I am a lvl 23 Jewelcrafter.  Each time I have requested a tradeskill Writ (task) for status.  I have been offered a lvl 19 or 20 wizard spell to make, 6 times now.  The probelm is I am not a Scibe, I am a JC.  My Aracana is capped at 99, even con for about a lvl 20 spell.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>With the previous nerf to pristine combines.  It is now incredibly difficult to make app 3  or normal level (level 3) items when they  are even con.  I have yet to make 10 of these spells in over 30 attempts usuing all pristine subcombines with max skill.   I finally gave up and deleted it all.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Two things need to happen:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>1.  The ability to make level 3 or app 3 items needs to be looked into.  the fail rate is significantly higher then it should be with the pristine nerf</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>2.  NEVER should the writ giver offer a task that is not within your current scope.  JC should always be given JC items.  Scholar should always be given Scholar.  Armorer should always be given armorer.  No more crossteaming please.  Just because you were a scholar at level 20 does not mean you can make the lvl 20 items easier as a level 23 JC.  You can never gain skills past 99.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Gherig</DIV> <P>Message Edited by Aethn on <SPAN class=date_text>02-14-2005</SPAN> <SPAN class=time_text>07:10 AM (spelling)</SPAN></P><p>Message Edited by Aethn on <span class=date_text>02-14-2005</span> <span class=time_text>07:13 AM</span>

<DIV>I think a characters skills should be used to determain tasks. I leveled up my provisioner who is 23 now, solely creating food items. Yet when I get a writ, it still wants me to make a chair, a wall sconce or something of the sort.. and never a food item. Since my skills in woodworking, etc are all permenantly at 39 (or whatever the default was), there is no way I can complete any of these tasks. Not to mention, my having absolutely zero desire as a provisioner to pick up a hammer, saw or screwdriver. I cook, my skills reflect that and I would hope that when I show up at the writ given with a chefs hat on and a ladle in my hand.. he stops asking me to create furniture. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>A possible solution could be, that he offers a list to choose a task from or asks what class you are working towards (or already are!) and gives a task along those lines.</DIV>

<DIV>I like the idea of choosing a field that you'd like to craft for.  You're not choosing your task, just the type of task you want.  Right now I'm a 25 Weaponsmith and I am still getting writs for level 19 tunics and blouses.  I just wait the 15 minutes for a new one.  One bug about weaponsmith writs though (I have /bugged this in game) is that they will sometimes give me an order to make a weapon which you can't craft.  Like carbonite javelins.  The NPC merchants sell them, but there is no recipe to actually make them.  Trust me, I've looked.</DIV>

I just started getting crafting writs the other day. Being a levle 19 craftsman (max provisioning with heavy carpentry also) I got 5 consecutive writs to make drinks. I have not asked for crafting writ up until this point and was happy to see they were at least provisioning (just lucky I guess). However they were for drinks which I cannot afford to use resources on for writs or status. The demand for drinks is just to high. I am curious to see what I get when I turn 20.

The problem is that he chooses only among your finished product recipes... Since cuisine recipes don't get any finished products it goes back to the teens craftsman recipes, which include the woodworking stuff.I would be very much in favor of being able to choose the type of task you get in situations like this.

<DIV>also the lvl of the tradeskill instance will also determin to a degree the lvl of task that is asked for</DIV>

<DIV>The workshop tasks are not viable for 3 reasons as far as I can tell.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>1)  The level of the given item to make is usually too low for the crafter to xp from.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>2) They usually require "shaped" goods, which does not allow the the crafter to xp from they make.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>3)  The "20% profit" made is fictional.</DIV><p>Message Edited by Shunidar on <span class=date_text>02-15-2005</span> <span class=time_text>07:02 AM</span>
