<div></div>You started patching before all the files were uploaded. Relax. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />You may wanna check your Preferences as well. For some reason some of my Optional Packs got unchecked.<div></div><p>Message Edited by Martrae on <span class=date_text>12-20-2006</span> <span class=time_text>08:58 AM</span>

I have started downloading the patch just after the servers have gone. Ok downloaded for 15m - my net connection's max dl rate is 15kb/s -anyways, I saw play button after 15m. Closed and relaunched the proggy, and what do I see.. It is downloading EOF files - exp3...vpk files - I already have those, and the ETA is 11h !!! anyone has this too ?<div></div>

<DIV>Ok first, all files are not done until the servers are back up. They will apply the patches lock servers and test the implimentation, and make changes if needed. You will be repatching mutlipe times until then so chill.</DIV> <DIV>Second, you need to understand something about the patching. They are doing "binary" style patching to files that need it. it they change something in EOF they will apply that change to files that need it.  When you are seeing the EOF file you are actually seeing the delta file (changes in a compressed file). </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>This is unless you totally screwed up yout file by not waiting and repeatedly applying partial patches.</DIV>

Its a large patch too, with a full new zone plus all the city zones being updated with the decorations, and the new recipes, harvests, etc... that's assuming this is GU30 of course <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />.

<DIV>I would assume its Gu30, but you know how that goes. If it is yes you will see a large number of files varying in size, so it could take awhile when they are finally done.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV>That's really stupid.  Why allow peoples to download a partial/uncomplete patch ?   SOE is dumb.</DIV>

<DIV>Yes they should lock out the patch server, but they dont. I can only presume that they assume that the content is done and ready, once out of test cycle. I don't know why they assume this given the history of patches.</DIV>

Note, there was just a note posted in the community news that the patch is going to last until approx 11am PST, so another hour or so to go. *sighs* that'll leave me 2 hours before I have to leave for the airport... maybe I can at least claim some xmas gifts before I go away for xmas...

<DIV>Doh, hope you can manage to get logged in and get a present before you leave.</DIV> <DIV>In either case have a safe trip.</DIV>

I assume that the reasoning given above (the patcher is still receiving updated LU content from the main distribution source) is correct because if you start downloading a large patch you will realize that it will often cancel and reset, probably due to a file update.

The very reason we have EU and US servers is to acknowledge two large playerbasis that have some fundamental differences - the most important one: different prime times. About a year or so back the EU community was in uproar because they kept patching EU and US servers simultaneously, meaning US servers patched on off hours, and EU servers were forced to patch during prime time. Which is the case tonight :S</P> <P> </P> <P>However, I dont complain too much about it in this case, though, because they dont usually do it, and im glad they just get the Frostfell GU out at last <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> </P>

<P>Here is a helpful hint for those experiencing 24+ hrs downloads on non dialup modems.</P> <P>Restart the client! No do not just cancel and restart the download. Restart EQ2 altogether. :smileywink:</P>
