Ok i know alot of people are jsut bashing the changes some of it i like but most of it sucks I have a lvl 40 pally heals were cut basically in half. yet mitigation was stolen as well as avoidance so pally's are no longer tank no longer healers so what are they? I cant solo anything down arrow up arrow no arrow dont matter i struggle. From what i read and heard youw ere susposed to get most your stats from buffs yet they took half my buffs away. Before i would try to have the most mitigation while keeping a good avoidance lvl now i have to choose one or the other. Seems that if i want any kind of decent avoidance i have to use a shield and loose the dmg of a one handed weapon. Maybe i jsut need some pointers Any pallys let me know what to do. i want to give it a chance but comparitivly my lvl 10 enchanter can do more. Also what were they thinking taking mitigation from jewlery were they on crack?

I dont understand why people don't get this - yes your mit used to be in the 50's or 60's. Thats based on the OLD MOB COMBAT SYSTEM. THAT HAS NO BEARING ON THIS NEW REVAMP. Now you should have 20's 30's for mit and avoid or just a set number on mit. So you didn't LOSE anything it changed, EVERYTHING. The mobs changed therefore you dont NEED 60% avoidance. 1) You are no supposed to be able to solo heriocs - or at least your lvl heroics - green heroics are possible, grey possible too. Blue might be possible based on gear quality but most likely the casual gamer is not going to be able to take them on - Heroics are mean't to be killed by a group, period. 2) There is nothing more that can be said about this - your stats changed - but so did everyone elses, even the mobs. 3) People were not meant to be able to solo what they were soloing, it had to change. Now it has. Deal with it and group.

Umm, I'm tanking better than ever - Wards improved AND they mitigate - just keep your ward up. Defensive stance really helps too. Everyone had their heals cut, but since we all had our HP cut, it's relatively the same. Once you adjust to the new changes, you should have no trouble. PS: This belongs on the Paladin forums

Ok first off to the other posters, chill out he isn't whining about soloing heroic mobs he just asked some simple questions. This combat change has hit us all and most people have questions, I did and I found a few answers in the test forum pages.

Now to the questions you asked.

One way to solo a pally now is to use your ward spell, I rarely used it before but now it is a godsend, You will never be able to solo a heroic but you can solo. The ward you have at 40 isn't all that great if I remeber correctly but you get an upgrade soon, at 48 my ward absorbs 500+ damage and I can usually recast it before it wears off. Some solo group type mobs will have you sweating at times but just look for the down arrow types and you should do good.

Change the con setting in options so it is easier to tell a heroic from a solo, avoid heroics like the plague unless grouped, (I never did try and solo heroics much anyway unless it was grey and I needed it for a quest, downtime was just not worth the hassle) since the change the biggest thing I have attempted solo and won on is a solo type ^ yellow con undead and then only because I got jumped by it. Look for undead we are undead killers now, these are the ticket. Another little trick is to get your squire spell summon him/her and cast aegis on them it will up your defense by a bit and it stays until you cancel it even if you get rid of the squire. (I am betting this will be changed but use it while it works)

In a group setting we are now a secondary tank, not meant to take the main damage for a whole fight leave that to some other poor fool. Use the tools we have to try and keep that fool alive and aggro off your casters and healers. Our group spells are still very nice and wanted, our main heal is good for this since we are hitting some and the heal will help keep aggro from being transfered to the casters a little. But if you do need that big heal use the devout sacrement it can be recast a bit faster now and it still does some nice healing, not what it was but it can be a life saver, LOH is on a 15 minute timer and it does real nice healing.

Yes we do have to use a 1 hander/shield combo most of the time, there are some times when that 2 hander is still a good choice. But with our dash line you need a shield so is a nice trade off, not major damage but it stops a caster cold for a few seconds and it's always fun to watch someone get knocked on their keester unless its you

Try this and some other variations that may occur to you and see what works best. It's a new world out there and we Knights have to stick together.

People who are raid / very well equipped are in the "I am ok " catagory

Everyone else is in the "They screwed the pooch" catagory

I suppose that is they way they wanted it. This weekend is coming and the casual gamers will get their first whiff of these changes en mass.

Gonna be alot of "[expletive ninja'd by Faarbot]" kinda post I predict.

/grabs popcorn

Just to point out, I believe damage shields and wards are too entirely different things. My understanding is that a ward absorbs the damage that you would have taken; a damage shield causes the attacker to take damage whenever they hit you.

Paladins need to use their interrupts. and stances (defensive at the start, switch to offensive when mob hits 30%)

If you are using a 2 handed weapon i suggest you find a shield, 1 handed sword, and a1 handed crush weapon - they've become more important now with the disruption attacks we have. You see lots of 2 handers out there..but the disruptions in battle will win the fight for Paladins now.
