View Full Version : Feerrott Boat Access Change Needed

<DIV>I would like to make a suggestion on the Feerrott boat access as I have experienced multiple problems time and time again before successfully completing the access just for myself and have seen in other groups as well.  I am suggesting that once you survive the 10 min timer of fighting the wave of mobs, one should get an automatic update for the access.  It shouldn't require one to talk to the npc to gain it...Took me 4 tries in a row to gain access in which case the first time someone attacked the npc (shouldn't be attackable by players), second time I somehow found myself falling off boat before hailing npc causing me to fall through world, third time someone evaced before I could hail causing me to run the gauntlet for a fourth and final time.  This took me two days to complete because of the frustration of the other members of the group casuing them to disband.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>By making the access complete after successfully defending the npc for 10 mins to cast, one should be able to gain access to Feerrott.  Too much time can be wasted due to human error leaving other members in game to grow weary of continuing with assisting others with the access.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Just my thoughts....</DIV>

<DIV>The completion criteria was changed just today.  I made it so that the quest completes when the named boss for that version is killed or the priest's spell is cast.  Players will now only need to hail the npc after the event to leave the boat.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Thanks for the info <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV>

What about changing access quest lvl to 32 for Feerrott, and 37 for Everfrost? Currently they are reversed, leading Feerrott to be missed by most because it's grey when they eventually get there, and also because boat part for Everfrost is very very hard, and mostly requries you to be 39-42 to complete. This seems like a waste of content to me.

Not to mention, as far as I know all level 35-40 writs from Qeynos are for Feerott, which my character couldn't get to at level 35.

<DIV>The NPCs that give the Feerrott access quest now give the quest to characters level 32+.  Characters level 37+ can use the Steppes bell to travel to Feerrott without doing the access quest.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>These changes should already be on Test server.  If they aren't, they will be there very soon.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV><FONT color=#ffcc00><STRONG>Edit: This change will be going to Test server this week, and to the live servers in the near future.</STRONG></FONT></DIV><p>Message Edited by Moorgard on <span class=date_text>01-25-2005</span> <span class=time_text>11:02 PM</span>

<DIV>Actually the boat ride to Ferrott is bugged and can be completed by one person.  Just mez one of the non aggros for 10 min and no more spawn.</DIV>

<DIV>Access quests are way over used in this game, they should be the exception and not the rule. It is ok to have a few zones locked behind an access quest, but in this game access quests are the rule and in the end many casual players will just move on when they find that the largest amount of game content is denied to them. For example in TS there are 4 dungeons 3 require access quests and one doesn't. Thats denying 3 quarters of dungeon content in that zone to the casual player. It's not a game decision to open up, it's a financial one. people who don't play don't pay. The management at SOE has really made some very lousy business decisions with this game. They put the game above the client and profit. This attitude is going to cost them if changes arn't made. Put the client and profit first and it will be a success. Keep the game first over everything else and it won't. EQ2 is already suffering in the poles why not open it up for everyone. They have nothing to lose by doing so and everything to gain. one dungeon and each zone that requires an access key is fine, 3 out of 4 rots.</DIV>

<DIV>Thanks so much for the quick turnaround as I'm sure this change will lessen the frustration levels for those players trying to attain Feerrott access <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

The Everfrost boat ride is WAY harder than any other boat ride and people end up dying a LOT. You can do it with one group but, it's like it is still geared for Groupx2.Nice changes Jindrack. Now if we could only get this kind of service on the Petrified eyes and get them changed back <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /><p>Message Edited by Naggybait on <span class=date_text>01-26-2005</span> <span class=time_text>12:11 PM</span>

<DIV>If your going to change the automatic level requirement, will you reduce the gather skill requirement for tier 5 as well to reflect that new change?</DIV>

Just keep winding the devices the entire time you fight the dragon and have 1 solid tank take his beating and you're golden. People stop winding regularly, his AE starts wiping the group, and then people wonder why he's so hard. I have personally seen that happen when taking pick-up people through there even when he conned green to me and was very easy to tank, all because someone who said they were winding wasn't winding.IE: Make sure your group knows that they need to wind every 15 to 20 seconds, that way they never miss the 60 sec timer. One hiccup in that and AE lands and you'll be in trouble fast. If you're getting hit by AE at all, someone's not doing their job.

<blockquote><hr>Rpgplaya2 wrote:<DIV>If your going to change the automatic level requirement, will you reduce the gather skill requirement for tier 5 as well to reflect that new change?</DIV><hr></blockquote>It would be better to change the resources in the zone to Tier 4 instead. To maintain a better ballance by letting T5 be accessible in Everfrost and Lavastorm only.
