It's a feature they hope to include eventually, but they haven't implemented it yet.

<DIV>I used to post this as one of my hopes back in the old boards.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Here's how I hope they do it if they do.  People get a scrying stone or a crystal ball or even your newbie city coin, and you get your "mail" through that.  You pull it out, and hockus pockus it "speaks" to you.  Like the talking Lucan D'Lere and Antonia Bayle dolls or the newbie city coin.  It obviously wouldn't read your messages aloud to you, but since these items can magically "talk" to your character, they could talk via text to you.</DIV>

In order to incorporate a mail system into the game that would fit the genre they could make it like a messenger service where you actually pay a nominal fee to send a message, kinda like postage.(I'm talkin' like 5-10 copper here not several silver) In EQ there was always a bard in most of the good aligned original cities that would hire people to carry mail from one city to another. I think they called it the Antonican Bard mail system if I remember correctly. Perhaps they could implement this bit of old world lore into a mail system. Or even have carrier pigeons.

I think an interesting way to do it would be in game message runners or possibly the League of Antonican Bards? Could be an implemented feature of homes etc, an npc message runner appears in the house, or a message box only accessible by the owner and/or trustees can be placed in the house.

The League of Antonican Bards was what I was talking about.

<DIV>Having a mail man deliver it to the larger houses would be spiff.  For those that still live in the inns or taverns wouldn't it be cool if the innkeeper hailed you on your way into your apartment, "Hey, someone left this letter here for you", that kind of thing.</DIV>

This is the board for people to comment about changes on test server before they go live. You should post this to the User Interface board, it is a good idea.

<DIV>So long as the mail system is tailored to fit within the genre I will have no problem with it.  As soon as I see "inbox" or "outbox" or any such reference to modern day terminology, given the bevy of other immersion breaking issues that irritate me, I will likely cancel the account.</DIV>
